Summer is approaching and the desire to travel is growing. In this month’s Travel Trends, we reveal why we prefer a Polaroid camera to a smartphone, what a classic movie has to do with our luggage and where we’re heading.
Book
Eyes on Osaka
Louis Vuitton can do more than fashion. The fashion house regularly sends out photographers for its “Fashion Eye” book series. The assignment? A country, a region or a city is to be captured from the perspective of a fashion photographer. The latest view? Osaka, captured by Jean-Vincent Simonet. He mixes analog with digital, old photographic techniques with modern retouching to create painting-like works, which in this case illuminate Osaka from a very unique perspective.

New Product
Instant Memories
Polaroid doesn’t care that you always have a handy camera with you on your smartphone. Even after 80 years, the iconic instant camera is still coming up with innovations. The Polaroid Flip is visually reminiscent of its predecessors, but has evolved internally: The powerful flash illuminates up to 4.5 meters away and warns of potential overexposure or underexposure. Sonar autofocus determines the distance to the subject and selects the optimum lens for maximum sharpness – even in the dark. A bridge to the digital world is nevertheless built: connected to the Polaroid app, you can give free rein to your creativity with double exposures, self-timer and optimized manual settings. Only eight pictures are possible per film pack – a good exercise for anyone with tens of thousands of photos on their smartphone.

We Love
Cult
In 1975, Steven Spielberg scared moviegoers with “Jaws” – without CGI, without AI and without even showing the great white shark properly. That is cinema art. Of course, the cult hit is still being celebrated 50 years after its release. Eastpak celebrates the classic with luggage that you will never lose amidst the flood of boring black suitcases. If you’re serious about adventures, get the Sailor Bag – a waterproof bag that fits all kinds of essentials.

New Opening
Farm Life Deluxe
A vacation on a farm sounds tempting, especially for city dwellers. But milking cows and mucking out stables is not the kind of relaxed days off we are looking for. Good thing the Farmstay Hotel Corte Pravecchio has opened near Lake Garda. It has a farmhouse feel with a dose of luxury. Six suites, a steam sauna, a pool and plenty of nature make for an Italian dolce far niente summer. If it gets too much niente, there is plenty to discover: The mill village of Borghetto, local markets, wine shops and sights in Verona. If you feel like socializing: The host couple are happy to sit and chat with guests.

Places
Steeped in history
Minimalism has been conquering our lives for so long – clean girl aesthetic and Marie Kondo send their regards. A frills revolution is needed. In the form of a relaxed vacation. When you set foot in the Grand Hotel Son Net on Mallorca, you immediately travel back in time. A few ruffles here, a handful of romantic patterns there. You will look in vain for empty expanses here. But it never gets chaotic, because the classic charm has been thought through down to the last detail. A brand new spa area opened last year. All the more reason to pay a visit to the Spanish island.
