More is more: The most unusual jewelry labels

Minimalism was yesterday: We want more color and more bling-bling. We now swap our hoop earrings, link chains and silver rings for pearls, plastic and glitter. The new designs no longer have anything in common with conventional jewelry: creativity and a touch of DIY are required. These seven jewelry designers create eye-catchers that are fun to wear and guaranteed to get people talking.

Beepy Bella

Beepy Bella seems to be the It girls’ new favorite label, because if you’re on Instagram, you can’t avoid Isabella Lalonde’s unusual jewelry. Small mushrooms and miniature strawberries are the main protagonists of the necklaces, but rings made of roses and earrings made of pearls are also part of her collection, which is reminiscent of fairytale forests, fairies and all other fantastic worlds.

Ebonny Munro

The jewelry pieces by Australian designer Ebonny Munro wrap around our ears and fingers like molten silver. The mix of lacy, unprocessed and playful, feminine elements makes these unique accessories unmistakable.

Emma Pryde

Artist Emma Pryde also makes use of the advancing technology and cuts her jewelry into shape with a laser cutter. She describes her new collection as “astral baroque” and creates utopian and extraterrestrial pieces of jewelry in the form of transparent butterflies and daggers.

Hurjaboy Acc

What looks like an attempt at handicrafts from kindergarten is actually serious jewelry from the Korean label Hurjaboy. The actual food engineer has turned to jewelry design and conjures up unique pieces of jewelry with her minimal technical experience. Pearls combined with Swarovski crystals or small dog stickers are the trademark of her creations.

Janky Jewels

Sculptures, kitsch and bric-a-brac stores inspire the work of jeweler Carol Li. Her label Janky Jewels deconstructs conventional silhouettes of common jewelry and plays with symbols of pop culture such as tramp stamps or even religious symbols. The best example: her reinterpretation of the cross necklace.

MGN Jewellery

Classic shapes reinvented: MGN by Megan’s creations are reminiscent of jewelry from years gone by, which is broken up by flowing metal and modern elements such as unusual applications of rhinestones. A very special fusion of two contrasting styles runs like a red thread through the designs of the rings, necklaces and earrings from MGN, which we love to admire.

Twelve New York

Disgusting or avant-garde? The necklaces from Twelve New York are wonderfully grotesque in the best sense of the word. In addition to singers such as Omar Apollo, Gus Dapperton and Lolo Zouai, the hyped newcomer Olivia Rodrigo is also a fan of the tooth necklaces, which ensures a permanently sold-out online store.
