Shortcuts Eat & Drink September 2019

“I want more nights on the couch with zucchini fries watching bad reality television.” Chrissy Teigen

Greek treasure

The best basic ingredients turn cooking into art. That’s why we pamper salad leaves and grilled vegetables with an olive oil rooted in the Greek peninsula Peloponnese, at home in Switzerland. Mako is the name of the fine wine whose raw material Markus Haimburger’s dad in Greece grows with the same love as did for his offspring. The latter sells the oil, which tastes more velvety on the tongue than the corresponding textile on the skin, in Switzerland – in a 500 ml earthenware bottle at for approx. 35.-.

Pancakes

It doesn’t take much and we are in heaven. Four ingredients: egg, butter, salt and pepper. We use them to create omelettes with cheese and bacon, mushrooms, rice wine or smoked fish. In between, the cookbook “The Omelette School” also contains sweet alternatives and plenty of instructions for whipping, heating and folding the egg dish, which we still whip up in the evening when it’s too late even for pasta. Gero von Randow, “Die Omelettschule”, Prestel, from mid-September 2019, approx. 29.-

Easy peasy

As quickly as we get the cooking bug, we usually let it go again when we open the fridge and realize that our favourite recipe requires a trip to the supermarket … Before we reach for the ravioli tin at , let’s take a look at HelloFresh . They send us intelligently packed cooking boxes to , which also contain exactly the right amount of ingredients for the recipes provided. No additional shopping, no measuring. Healthy dishes have rarely made it into our pans and onto our plates more quickly! HelloFresh also pays attention to fresh and seasonal ingredients and only uses Swiss meat. Various boxes ensure that everyone from veggies to meat lovers can rub their tummies with satisfaction. HelloFresh, veggie box from approx. 10 per portion, Classic Box from approx. 12 per portion, with the voucher code FACES you get on your HelloFresh order on www.hellofresh.ch 50 % discount.

Summer soul

We’re holding on to summer and doing so with chocolate-covered strawberries from Munich start-up Frailice. They are available with normal, white or pink chocolate from Belgium and with flowers, pistachios, gold dust and other toppings that will leave you wanting more. The best (or worst for the figure ): In addition to the mini, for approx. 48. also the Deluxe Maxi Box. Will they really be shared now that the swim rings are disappearing under the sweater anyway? Currently only available to order from Germany, www.frailice.de
