The Faces in November 2022

Andrew Callaghan – Newsboy

This is America. Where Andrew Callaghan stretches out his microphone, a people on the brink of madness roars out its unfiltered truth. The 25-year-old fearlessly throws himself into BLM protests, spring break orgies – but also the war in Ukraine. Interviews Tom Hanks‘ problem child Chet, Alex Jones, the QAnon shaman. Gen Z celebrates the YouTuber as the only true news reporter. His next coup? A Hollywood documentary about the storming of the US Capitol.

Bria Salmena – Howdy

The Canadian rides into town and gives country back its coolness. Bria Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings re-recorded some classics on a farm and released them as “Cuntry Covers”. They sound longing, whiskey-thirsty, heart-rending. Just as it should be. Bria also plays in the band of the mysterious midnight cowboy Orville Peck, whose queer reinterpretation of the genre deserves a sheriff’s star.

Hot! Cool! Grandiose! We will soon run out of adjectives.

Daryl McCormack – Big O

He almost ended up in “Star Wars”. Instead, he is now in bed with Emma Thompson. At least for the movie “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande”. Daryl McCormack plays a sensitive sex worker who is supposed to bring a widow to her first orgasm. He provided highlights on London’s West End stages as Romeo and Othello, and in the TV series “Peaky Blinders” as the son of a preacher. Further successes? As sure as the Amen in the church.

Watch out Hollywood, there’s a new big name at the start!

Samantha Cristoforetti – Rocket Woman

She made it to the very top. Samantha Cristoforetti is the first European to take command of the International Space Station (ISS). It is the culmination of an already groundbreaking career. The former fighter jet pilot holds the record for the longest uninterrupted space flight by a woman from Europe. And logically, the Italian was also the first person to drink an espresso weightlessly in space.

Yannik Zamboni – Primo Bianco

His white brought gold. Yannik Zamboni has won the fashion TV show “Making the Cut” in the USA. The Zurich native reinvested the prize money of 1 million dollars in his label maison blanche. Ethically produced clothing, designed for all sizes and genders is its principle. After New York Fashion Week, a new co-brand was also launched with “rare/self”. The designer conquers the world – and wants to make it a little better.

New perennial favorite on the catwalks of this world.
Vitor Manuel Oliveira Da Costa

Lola Young – The next

The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen – of Soul. Lola Young is right at the top of the line for this title. Voice, attitude, charisma: the 20-year-old singer and songwriter from South London has it all. That she also has the same art degree and management as Amy Winehouse and Adele? The crowning glory! Still in doubt? Just listen to the song “So Sorry” and agree. God save the Lola Young.

For us, the next in line to the throne.

Dennis Schröder – Slam Drip

Keep the ball flat? Not an option for Dennis Schröder. The Braunschweig native has been playing in the NBA since 2013. In October, he will start for the Los Angeles Lakers – as a teammate of LeBron “King” James. The German has now also landed a 3-point hit off the court and launched the fragrance label Atelier Drip in Berlin. Dope d‘or is its first fragrance and is a high-caliber debut that dribbles our senses crazy.

The smart thing to do is not to put all your eggs in one basket.

Maya Hawke – Triple Threat

Talent is not hereditary. Nevertheless, it sometimes slips along. Like Maya Hawke. Famous parents? Check. (Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman.) But they are of little use if the next generation doesn’t really get to grips with things. But Maya’s touch seems to gild everything: star in “Stranger Things” and the new Netflix film “Do Revenge”. Also great as a musician on her second album “Moss”. And the all-rounder also rocks the new Calvin Klein campaign.

The genes are right, as are the ambitions.

Harris Reed – Panta rhei

We downloaded a language learning app during the lockdown and never used it again afterwards. At the same time, Harris Reed created a fashion collection in his home with the simplest of means, graduating from Central Saint Martins College. Now, at the age of 26, he is Creative Director at Nina Ricci. His gender-fluid designs not only dress stars like Harry Styles and Little Nas X, but also the zeitgeist.

The new Alessandro Michele. For sure.

Violet Benson – Meme, Myself & I

Her Instagram account Daddy Issues is the Lord’s Prayer for Chardonnay tipsy internet humor. With smart comments on everyday observations, Violet Benson has earned herself an audience of millions and has become the big sister we all wish we had. The former accountant has long since taken the reins as a successful internet entrepreneur, including with her podcasts “Almost Adulting” and “Hey Besties”.

Well done, Big Sis!
