THE HYPE FASHION / SEPTEMBER 2025

Trend

V-SHAPED

No matter how often some people describe the eighties as a decade full of fashion sins – they stubbornly keep coming back. So it can’t have been so bad after all, what the designers back then came up with. Strong shoulders were seen on all kinds of catwalks this season, from softly hinted and suitable for everyday wear to oversized V-silhouettes. It’s refreshing that you don’t always have to aim for an hourglass figure. Those who have always preferred to fight for space with over-the-shoulders are now even more on trend.

FALL PALETTE

Hermès enthusiasts get their money’s worth twice during Fashion Week. The French brand not only shows in its home city of Paris but also presents a second chapter of its latest collection in Shanghai. The fall-winter collection was presented with a view of North Bund Bay. Even though the looks were first unveiled back in June, they instantly evoke that fall feeling. Warm shades of orange melt into red and brown, while leather and silk scarves spark anticipation for cooler days.

It-Piece

STRAPPED IN?

Clothing shapes and is malleable. That sounds more philosophical than it is. We are referring in particular to the ever-widening waist belts that you see everywhere at the moment. Belts exist not only to hold pants in place, but also to give the thickest cardigan and the coat that is three sizes too wide an exciting shape.

We Love

DELICACY

Whether it’s summer or winter, our underwear—in most cases—is seen by very few people. But we believe that what you wear underneath definitely matters. The selection of beautiful lingerie at Chantelle is just too tempting. For the fall season, the French label is focusing on pink and purple in addition to classic black. Even more exciting than the color selection are the details. Lacing, lace, surprising sheer details — boring underwear is nowhere to be found here.

SEASON’S CHANGE

Between summer sandals and winter boots lies what’s known as the “transitional season.” This can last quite a while in our part of the world. So you need to be equipped with the right footwear. If we had to choose one type of footwear as the perfect fall shoe, it would be the loafer. It’s neither too warm nor too cold and is easy to style. For the G.H. Bass label, founded in 1876, the loafer is in its DNA. Over the past 149 years, there’s been plenty of time to refine it, as evidenced by the extensive collection. Whether heeled, patterned, colorful, or black, there’s a loafer for every preference.

GREAT STUFF

The cliché that sustainable fashion is often bland and colorless is no accident. Unfortunately, dyeing can be just as harmful to the environment as a fat car running on fossil fuel. Synthetic dyes are full of plastic and harmful chemicals. That’s why the British company Sparxell produces biodegradable dyes that are free of plastic and toxic chemicals and are based on plant cellulose. The automotive industry as well as the cosmetics industry make use of them. British designer Patrick McDowell is the first fashion designer to integrate Sparxell into his sustainable luxury designs. A couture dress and a shirt make the start. And suddenly we are convinced that sometimes you can have it all and look forward to a fashion future that is both colorful and sustainable.

Campaign

RULEBREAKERS

It’s never a bad thing to go for famous faces if you want to get the attention of potential customers. But that’s certainly not the main reason why Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss and co. wrapped themselves in the fall/winter collection for Versace. We rather think that Donatella was in the mood for a family reunion – after all, the handful of iconic models who bring the campaign to life have long been part of the equally iconic designer’s extended family circle. They also embody the motto Donatella preaches: “Be yourself, believe in yourself and break the rules.” When you wear a Versace look, nobody takes the rules too seriously – you are too focused on the wild cuts and patterns.
