The Issey Miyake shows and collections are always celebrated for their unique ability to create a calm and peaceful escape in the midst of the hectic Fashion Week schedule. Presented on Friday, 29. September, at Césure in Paris, the Spring-Summer 2024 show and collection continues this cherished tradition. With a Zenful Runway Experience, Artistic Director Satoshi Kondo masterfully orchestrates an enchanting atmosphere characterized by man-made bird sounds and graceful, poetic dance performances.
Issey Miyake SS24: innovative fabric range
Issey Miyake’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection is a testament to the brand’s unwavering dedication to innovation. This season saw the unveiling of a remarkable range of ground-breaking fabrics, each with its own distinctive character.
“Amphibious” used highly twisted cotton yarns for garments with adjustable, flowing drapes that flattered the wearer’s body. “Twinning” evoked flag movements with feather-light, textured fabric. “Light Leak” presented captivating prints of exposed camera film. “Enveloping” combined Japanese washi paper and polyester for sleek, original silhouettes. “Fixed in Time” presented structured, yet comfortable pressed fabric. “Twisted” integrated natural and stretched fibers for unique textures. “Shaped Membrane” offered exaggerated silhouettes with skin-like, stretchy textures. Each fabric added depth and versatility to the aesthetics of the collection.
A shoe collaboration with New Balance
In addition to the innovative fabrics, Issey Miyake and New Balance collaborated to introduce the MT10O footwear collection. This collaboration embraced the concept of barefoot mobility and perfectly complemented the physicality and sensual design elements in designer Satoshi Kondo’s creations.
