Gucci has opened Milan Fashion Week with a quiet but significant change. Following the sudden departure of Sabato De Sarno, the internal design team took over – and put together a complete collection in just over two weeks. Really impressive. A collection that is both nostalgic and forward-looking at the same time. Is this the beginning of a new era or just a short break before the next big change?
The Gucci Fall/Winter 2025/26 Collection
There are borrowings from different decades: The sixties with structured, boxy blazers and sharp lapels meet the flowing glamor of the nineties – silky slip dresses with lace trim. Fluffy fake furs and casually draped blouses with bow details are reminiscent of Gucci’s bohemian past and subtly allude to Alessandro Michele’s maximalism without completely losing themselves in nostalgia.
Trying to break this collection down to a single theme or a fixed color palette? Doesn’t make sense. The ready-to-wear line for fall/winter 2025/26 does not aim for uniformity – but for discovery. Each piece stands on its own, focusing on individuality rather than uniformity.

Unlike Michele’s gender-fluid looks or De Sarno’s mix of masculine and feminine, this collection makes a clear distinction between menswear and womenswear.

Eye-catching accessories
The accessories set strong accents. Sculptural gold pendants and oversized horsebit necklaces exude elegance, but the real stars are the handbags. Classic, elegant box bags with a vintage vibe contrast with plush, playful statement bags that add a modern twist.

But this collection is more than just a run of looks – it shows Gucci’s ability to maneuver through change. It does not seek to create instant harmony, but invites interpretation through personal style and attitude. Without clear creative direction, Gucci relies on its history while leaving room for the new. Whether this is a new direction or just a transitional phase? We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing is certain – Gucci remains on the move and this collection lays the foundations for an exciting new chapter.
