Anyone who follows Fashion Weeks closely has almost certainly seen our October cover model, Fatou Kebbeh, at least once. The Gambian-born model seems to strut her stuff on every major runway. And she’s doing all this even though she’s still pretty much at the beginning of her career.

Sometimes, breaking into the modeling world doesn’t seem so complicated after all: Fatou Kebbeh once mentioned to a friend that she’d like to try her hand at modeling. Her friend, in turn, knew a model scout and passed along the contact information to Fatou. Shortly thereafter, the young model signed with Beth Model Management Africa. Her career took off in a flash—she’s now represented by agencies in New York, Milan, Paris, London, Madrid, and Gothenburg. The 19-year-old has since traded her home country of The Gambia for London. Although, if you take a look at her resume, the model is constantly on the go anyway and surely feels at home in quite a few cities by now.

Catwalk Queen
Fatou was also a constant presence at Milan Fashion Week, which just wrapped up. She walked the runway for Prada, Ferragamo, Fendi, The Attico, Max Mara, Tod’s, Altuzarra, and many other brands, among others.

Earlier this year, the online platform models.com named the Gambian woman “Model of the Week.” To mark the occasion, she shared a little more about herself. In an interview with the platform, she revealed not only that she’s interested in finance and is passionate about cooking, but also that she prefers the runway to photo shoots. That’s because walking in high heels gives her a huge boost of confidence. You can definitely see that in her. But the fact that she performs just as well in photo shoots as she does on the runway is evident in the spread for 16Arlington, from which our October cover is taken.
Here you can see who graced our cover last month.
