The Hermès Spring/Summer 2027 collection thrives on a subtle sense of sensuality and relies entirely on the immediate impact of materials that move with the body. It is defined by the raw, intense scent of leather, the gentle caress of silk against bare skin, and a color palette that radiates an almost blinding heat. The garments actively capture the atmosphere of a changing season and make the approach of summer palpable. By orienting the entire silhouette toward airiness and functional freedom of movement, the house successfully anchors its historical vocabulary—its leather, its silk, its equestrian elements—in a modern expression of absolute weightlessness.

Nadège Vanhee turns to the bandeau—a garment that can come across as slightly provocative—and uses it to break up the silhouette with precision. Worn under sheer mesh pieces or unbuttoned outerwear, these small strips of skin appear more thoughtfully styled than provocative. But the real highlight lies in the styling: draping the upper body in Cavalcadour pleated silk scarves. A trick that looks wonderfully casual, even if executing it requires an entire team of artisans.

Perforations are used to fundamentally alter the texture of fabrics. In outerwear, dresses, and skirts, rows of neat holes strip the material of its natural weight and density. In other areas, inserts are shaped into long vertical columns that open at the bottom into fan-like slits, allowing the heavy leather to trap air and break free from its strictly defined silhouette.

And then, of course, there’s the leather itself. After all, we’re talking about Hermès here. The textures are extraordinary—glossy lambskin, waxed calfskin, and a double-sided suede that feels as light as cotton fabric.

One of the particularly beautiful designs combines two of the brand’s signature materials: delicate stripes of nappa lambskin embroidered onto airy silk tulle. From a distance, it appears translucent; up close, the craftsmanship is exceptionally delicate.

The color palette begins with a cool, deliberate restraint—built on a solid foundation of cream white, ice blue, beige, anthracite, and deep brown tones. But the real story only unfolds once the collection really gets going. The design takes off with sunflower yellow and copper, gradually gaining intensity until it culminates in bold accents of burnt orange and a striking coral red.

Detail
Vanhee has never been a designer of grand, empty gestures; her hallmark at Hermès lies in microscopic precision. Details matter. Rather than vying for attention, they serve as different forms of expression for a single, cohesive idea.
A casual, cream-colored bomber jacket looks particularly elegant, while other pieces feature a collar with leather straps that subtly evoke the brand’s equestrian roots.

Zippers on cargo pants and modular skirts serve a purely practical purpose, allowing the wearer to adjust the proportions—making them wider, narrower, or shorter—as she pleases.

If you look more closely, the references begin to overlap. The Brise-de-Charme Carré, originally designed by Julie Abadie in 1990 and reinterpreted by Studio Dessin, returns in darker color variations on flowing silk fabrics. Its fan motifs meet another source of precision: the Japanese katagami, the art of hand-cut stencils, which is reflected in the precise perforations and cutouts incorporated into the clothing and leather.

About the bags
The Kelly Hobo 26 returns to the runway, continuing the brand’s focus on reimagining its classic models. In this version, the old metal D-ring loops have been completely replaced by a seamless, continuous leather shoulder strap. The result is a significantly lighter, more architecturally refined evolution that fully transforms a historically rather rigid icon into a practical everyday accessory.

The Garden Party Voyage 49, crafted from Toile Officier and Negonda leather, is beautifully simple; its rich orange color conveys the warmth of the collection with perfect clarity. The Mangeoire PM Chaîne Torsade is reminiscent of an equestrian feed bucket: its cylindrical, perforated leather body contrasts with an oversized, polished chain handle that exudes an almost harness-like sturdiness. The Sac à dos Toron combines an open mesh body with smooth leather at the bottom and along the edges. Contrast stitching and clean drawstrings create a graphic look, while the transparency makes the contents part of the design.

In true Nadège Vanhee spirit, seduction is never contrived; it arises quite naturally from the way the clothing drapes around the body. The new Hermès collection is summer in its most physical form: air on the skin, warmth stored in leather, silk that billows with every movement, colors in full intensity. And yet nothing slips into languor. Even in its most sensual moments, the collection remains anchored in Hermès’ precision, determination, and discipline.
