It was a housewarming gift that made fashion history: when the Whitney Museum of American Art moved to its new address in Lower Manhattan in 2015, Max Mara launched a handbag of the same name with the Whitney and has been closely associated with the cultural institution ever since.
For the tenth anniversary, at which painter and Obama portraitist Amy Sherald was also honored, the stars packed their Whitney and graced the Whitney – including Andie MacDowell, Claire Danes and Nicky and Kathy Hilton. For once, the main attraction was not the art, but the audience.
Highlight: From Bali to the ball: there was a “White Lotus” mini-reunion thanks to Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan.
Conclusion: Art break? Not at all. The Whitney also shone during the gala.
