“Cooking is very therapeutic.” Kylie Jenner
Island
Are you in the middle of your post-holiday diet and trying to get rid of your rolls by cutting out carbohydrates? Then “Islas” is definitely the wrong cookbook. Here, everything revolves around delicacies from the Spanish islands – and these are increasingly fruit-topped cakes, herb-sprinkled breads or meat-filled dumplings. Rizzoli’s work captures wanderlust between two book covers, as we can almost smell it, the sea, the salty air and the dishes simmering on the stove and in the oven. It’s definitely tasty – and when eaten in bulk, it’s not bad for your beach figure. Emma Warren, “Islas: Food of the Spanish Islands”, Rizzoli, ca. 30.-
Sweetest
The place where Asian tourists buy their watches and fill entire memory cards with Pilatus photos is also home to Max Chocolatier. The Lucerne-based company doesn’t have a hundred-year history in store – but a no less heartfelt one. It was Max who gave his dad the idea for his own chocolate boutique. A lot has happened since the launch of – from the launch of its own online store and the opening of a boutique in Zurich to vegan chocolates. The sweet delicacies are still made by masters of their trade in the heart of Lucerne. Here they roast cocoa beans from Madagascar, Bolivia or Ecuador and pour chocolate bars with the same dedication as they fill their boxes with gold dust or stamped chocolates. www.maxchocolatier.com
Peanuts
Greasy! High in calories! Unhealthy! Pfff… Peanut butter is not only rich in protein, but actually contains so much carbon that diamonds can be made from it with a lot of pressure. However, the resulting stones are not enough for the glittering engagement ring, as they are similar in color to peanuts.
Hydropower
Well, the water in the Tethys bottles is not actually new, as it comes from a primeval sea that sank to a depth of 3,000 meters. At the spring in Lavey-les-Bains, Switzerland, the thermal water enriched with sulphur and iodine finally emerges at 65 degrees – and is bottled here by hand in dark glass bottles. One glass covers over a third of the daily iodine requirement and supports energy metabolism, the nervous system and thyroid function, among other things. Tethys, three bottles, approx. 45.- www.tethyswater.ch
