There was a lot going on in the 90s: denim, flannel, platforms and much more. They’re all back : That’s why we’ve put together a list of the biggest trends of the nineties for you.
Denim over all!
More denim was not possible! Whether as denim shorts, dungarees, mom jeans or an oversized boyfriend jacket, nothing would work without the cotton fabric. Too much denim? Not possible! Today we’re also combining jeans pieces as much as we can!
However, the individual pieces also have a private appearance. They are now back in our wardrobes in the form of shorts, mom jeans and boyfriend jackets. In the 90s, the young Drew Barrymore was particularly keen on these pieces. A pair of jeans was rarely missing! Denim is still one of the most popular fabrics today. So you can’t go wrong with jeans!
Sporty Beast
Things got sporty in the 90s! The cool kids wore white sneakers and socks that reached up to their shins. Will Smith, 2Pac and TLC are just some of the names that have followed the trend. There is even a royal name on the list of wearers: Princess Diana. She also roamed the streets in white sneakers, socks and bike shorts: a true fashion icon.
Tracksuits were an absolute hit in the hip-hop and rap scene! Alongside rappers such as Snoop Dogg and the band Run-D.M.C, Sporty Spice also liked to wear the sporty look. Just the right outfit for her famous flickflacks! Today, sports suits are also worn outside. Jogging bottoms are no longer just comfortable, they can also be stylish. The cool look is rounded off with snapbacks.
Accessories such as bandanas, fanny packs and the fattest possible down jacket were must-haves in the 90s. Bandanas could be used as hair accessories or as an entire item of clothing. J.Lo, Mariah Carey and Beyoncé were proud wearers of the scarf – each with their own unique way of tying it.
Fanny packs have reappeared on the fashion scene in recent years. Either with a sporty look, elegant or combined with a cool outfit. They are simply all-rounders!
