Watch out: Our favorite watches of the month

Which pieces of jewelry shimmer on our wrists, tell us the time and revive old craftsmanship: That’s what we tell you in our current watch highlights.

Ciao Bella

Joie de vivre

No Fashion Week without her: Bella Hadid has certainly covered a few marathon distances on the catwalks of this world. As Brand Ambassador for Chopard, the Model of the Year 2022 didn’t have to run for once, but proved her skills in front of the camera. Her charm almost steals the show with the traditional house’s jewelry and watches.

Retrofuturism

Classic Reloaded

Not everything was better in the past, but many things were a little nicer. The aesthetics of the 1950s remain unbeaten to this day and serve as a bubbling source of inspiration across art, culture and fashion. Vacheron Constantin’s reference “6073“ appeared at the height of the decade: a round, elegant and timeless watch – and one of the first with an automatic movement. We are not the only ones who are glorifying the era with sweet nostalgia. The traditional house does the same and launches the ultimate homage to the popular decade with the “Fiftysix”. Christian Selmoni, Style and Heritage Director of Vacheron Constantin, describes the watch as “modern with a retro touch”, which would have appealed to Marlon Brando back then just as much as it would to Tom Cruise and co. today.

New Constellations

Hypnotize Me

Looking at your watch and then immediately forgetting what time it is – with the “Constellation Collection” from Omega, this doesn’t happen out of carelessness, but because you are literally hypnotized by the dial. The pattern is reminiscent of the endless expanse of the starry sky. What do individual minutes count when every time you look at the timepiece you are reminded of how endless the universe is? The collection is particularly suitable for collectors. It comes in three sizes: 29 mm, 28 mm and 25 mm. With different colors and materials such as classic stainless steel or gold and shimmering leather straps, you can customize your watch to suit your individual style.

All-rounder

World premiere

Waking up and not knowing what time it is, let alone what day it is? Happens to the best of us. The famous Patek Philippe World Time Clock was not created for hangover days, but in the 1930s with the advent of transatlantic passenger flights: it provides a simultaneous and constant display of the time in all 24 time zones. The new world time clock “5330G-001” goes one step further. It has a date display that is synchronized with the local time. With this piece of jewelry on your wrist, you are neither physically nor mentally lost.

Philosophy

Myth

Art only exists in museums? Not if Jaeger-LeCoultre has its way. With a limited edition of the “Master Hybris Artistica Caliber 945”, the prestigious company has built what is probably the world’s smallest display case into a watch. A three-dimensional dragon sits in the bezel. Hidden behind it is nothing less than a constellation of stars in the universe. You could easily forget to tell the time for all the amazement and philosophizing about the cosmos.

Time Traveler

Red Carpet Ready

If you were to travel 120 years back in time, you would probably need a few days to recover from the culture shock. But not everything was different over a century ago. The unmistakable “Santos” by Cartier was already around in 1904 and was the first modern watch designed for the wrist – for the pilot Santos-Dumont, so that he could keep an eye on the time during a flight. Back in the present day, acting talent Jake Gyllenhaal wears the square timepiece on his wrist. There could hardly be a more suitable brand ambassador, as he was already part of a film about the “Santos” directed by Seb Edwards and took part in Sølve Sundsbø’s “Time Project”, which explores Cartier’s relationship with time in twelve chapters.
