You need a lot of balls to start your own label straight after studying fashion. Julian Zigerli has something else: optimism. This and his own fearlessness (not to mention his creativity) have earned him a permanent place on the Swiss fashion scene, where he cheerfully makes the rounds in his colorful outfits. This is rewarded – with a flourishing business at Zurich’s Rindermarkt 14 and orders from all over the world. Zigerli documents how he got to where he is today in his first book “Doing It All Wrong Since 2011”, a work somewhere between an autobiography and a photo album.

No own fashion label without Mark Zuckerberg. Justyna and Brygida exchanged fashion ideas on Facebook in 2014 – and founded The Odder Side label together shortly afterwards. In their home city of Warsaw, the friends work on timeless designs using only materials that do not harm the environment. The minimalist pieces are produced in Poland to ensure short delivery routes and an even closer relationship with the tailors.

The company is also treating itself to a collab for its anniversary and is bringing Californian Joshua Vides on board for its birthday collection, who has already collaborated with numerous streetwear brands with his own brand CLSC. Vides dug deep into Colmar’s archive and drew inspiration from his bestsellers. For example, one of the legendary ski jackets from the 70s can be found on the gift table in a new look, as can hats with a trompe l’oeil print of ski goggles that symbolize the company’s history. These are joined by scarves, jackets, shirts, pullovers and cotton pants that pick up on Colmar’s colors of white, red and blue.

Before we blow all our money on a trend that will be as gone in a few weeks as all the Christmas decorations, we’d rather invest in pieces that will outlast the seasons. A trench coat is one of those classics that fit into any wardrobe – and the choice of styles, colors and materials has never been greater. So it’s worth taking a moment to think about what will still be making us happy in two years’ time.
