I don’t like to fly. What’s it called when the plane shakes? Turbulence, takeoffs… I grab my chair, close my eyes, count to 30, breathe, and pray.

Fresh air – The Vasilicos in Santorini
Daphne’s father loves art, the good life, spreading joy and making people happy. He passes this on, whether in his genes or just like that, it doesn’t matter, in any case Daphne is a born hostess. As such, she has expanded and renovated the summer family domicile in Santorini, Greece, and turned it into The Vasilicos, a meeting place for minimalism lovers from all over the world. These are the typical honeycomb accommodations of Santorini, set high above the sea so that you can smell the salt and be catapulted into dreamland by the waves. Daphne celebrates simplicity, providing the rooms with everything they need, but not more, as too much would fade into the picturesque backdrop anyway. While she looks after the guests’ well-being, her brother Yiannis ensures that the latter are never left high and dry. This is thanks to his good instinct for these wines and his own winery, Vassaltis Vineyards, which is experiencing roughly the same hype as its sister hotel. There are two tables in the restaurant, with a mixture of Greek classics and specialties on the surface to cause a stir. Homemade baklava is simply a must, no matter how much the calorie-conscious guest may resist. Pustekuchen – inflatable luxury from Olivier James
Only children splash around on inflatable pizza slices or in donut swimming rings – or students at frat parties. The inflatable floating loungers by Olivier James, inspired by his vacation in the south of France, are more elegant. You have to pay a lot for these things, but they really are something for life. Horny guy – Simon Lohmeyer, “irregut”
Simon Lohmeyer always has something to tell. Model, dishwasher, gardener, bartender, filmmaker, author, photographer – yes, the Munich native has done a lot of jobs that have not only given him experience, but also material for his stories. He summarizes the latter in his book “irregut”, a work that shows the sunny side of life, but also the darker ones, his father’s fight with drugs, the loss of his sister. Things that break people – but not Lohmeyer, who gets back in the saddle and talks about his rollercoaster ride in search of freedom and adventure, which ultimately took him out into the countryside and into a tiny house.
