“Traveling with kids is tough. My best advice is don’t do it.” Tom Segura
The world is mine
At some point you get too old for the paper map of the world pinned to the wall. Then you buy something like the Brunello Cucinelli walnut globe, which is available for a mere 1,645.

What sounds like the name of an estate in the hills of Los Angeles is actually a complex in the Austrian province of Styria, 25 kilometers from Graz. However, the Golden Hill Country Chalets & Suites are by no means as artificial as some retreats near the Hollywood Sign. There is a loft and six chalets to choose from, with two more to be added from May 2021. The chalets boast an interior made of wood and other natural materials as well as a fireplace and a private spa area with a sauna cube, infinity pool and whirlpool. Chalet Steinfuchs, for example, is a converted former farmhouse from the 18th century. Its walls have more stories to tell than Joan K. Rowling and J.R.R. Tolkien put together. The spacious 4,000 square meter facility also boasts a natural swimming pond, a fitness area and numerous lovingly designed spaces in the park landscape. Golden Hill Country Chalets & Suites, Steinfuchsweg 2 / Waldschach, 8505 St. Nikolai im Sausal, Austria; chalet with 120 square meters from approx. 305 per person per night, including breakfast, non-alcoholic drinks etc., www.golden-hill.at

Seen Thailand, discovered the USA, but not a clue about what lies on your own doorstep? Instead of filling our Insta feed with palm trees and kitschy beaches, we’d rather explore our home country. The beautiful travel guides from Franz Verlag are at our side, showing us new travel destinations in Germany that many people have never seen before. From St. Peter-Ording on the North Sea coast to the Bay of Lübeck on the Baltic coast, the Lüneburg Heath, Cuxhaven or the Uckermark, the books reveal new places of longing and their cafés, restaurants or hotels. A brand new addition to the weekend series this March is the north-east of Brandenburg, whose most beautiful destinations are presented so vividly on almost 200 pages that we leave exotic places to one side. The travel guides in the Wochenender series are published by Franz Verlag and cost approx. 18.- available.
Tourist flows
“Into the Wild” is the movie of longing par excellence. Just get away, go out, experience adventures and philosophize about the world. But the movie, which is based on a true story, also has its darker side. The bus inhabited by Christopher McCandless in 1992, 402 kilometers north of Anchorage, quickly became a pilgrimage destination for would-be dropouts. Since the film was released in 2007, two people have already died on the way to the so-called “Magic Bus” – drowned in the Teklanika River. Not to mention the backpackers who had to be rescued in the cold because they didn’t get on so well out there after all. The end of the story: the Alaskan authorities had the bus removed and it will soon be laid to rest in the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska.
