THE HYPE LIVING & DESIGN / SEPTEMBER 2025

Collaboration

LEVEL UP

What do we actually spend most of our time doing in life? Working at the office desk? Sport, relaxing, cooking and the occasional game are also on the list, otherwise it gets too depressing. Looking at the collaboration between Giobagnara and Poltrona Frau, you can’t help but wonder whether the two Italian labels went through the average daily routine and designed the right piece for every activity. You can embellish your desk, refine your kitchen, work out with dumbbells that are so stylish you won’t want to put them away afterwards, or indulge your competitive spirit offline with classic games such as backgammon or chess. What every object has in common is that it has been made with high-quality wood or leather and with an extra dose of luxury.

PERFECT HARMONY

There are two things you can boast about flirtatiously: With surprising linguistic knowledge and with a solid furnishing style. If you combine the two, everyone succumbs to the charm. At least that’s what we say. But there is something to be said for the fact that the Japanese word “Enn” not only stands for connection and harmony, but also symbolizes a seamless unity like a circle. The best way to philosophize about circular perfection is over a glass of wine or a cup of tea at the “Enn” table from Flexform, which translates all the meanings of the word into a modern, timeless and functional design. Leather on the base provides an unexpected twist and metal lends the desired modernity.

ANYTHING BUT WASTE

There are two types of people. The practical ones and the chaotic-creative ones who see art even in the world’s most fashionable objects. Vipp founder Holger Nielsen and his grandson Kasper Egelund, the current CEO of the Danish company, belong to the latter. Otherwise, the brand would not have managed to turn something as banal as a waste garbage can into a design icon. This is also due to the fact that since 2005, numerous celebrities, from Yoko Ono to Calvin Klein and Philippe Starck, have given the special editions their own touch. The Vipp Art Bins from the last twenty years – often auctioned off for charity – have been on display in Vipp stores for some time. You can still marvel at them until September.

TAKE LIGHT WITH YOU

In the old days – in the years before 1879, when the light bulb was patented – you would shuffle around the house at night with a candle in your hand if you were still looking for a midnight snack. There is something nostalgic about the idea of carrying a small light source around with you. Perhaps that’s why the portable Panthella from Louis Poulsen is so popular. The lamp is not only available in every conceivable color, but now also with touch control and dimming function. Nobody in this country needs to go to the toilet in the garden, but if they do, the lamp is also suitable for outdoor use.

New Opening

EVERYTHING ONCE, PLEASE

While furniture shopping doesn’t mean you can proudly lug bags full of your acquisitions through the streets afterwards, the hunt for new interior treasures is still fun. Molteni fans can browse through the range in Munich’s beautiful “Parcus Haus”. Designed in 1887, the building with its high ceilings is ideal as a temporary home for Molteni pieces before they move into their forever home. On 450 square meters, you’ll find everything from kitchens to living rooms – and you’ll want to move in yourself.
