THE HYPE LIVING & DESIGN / OCTOBER 2025
New Edition
LIKE ON CLOUDS
The following evening routine is the order of the day after a long day: Slip into something comfy and throw yourself on the sofa. That’s all there is to it. A sofa is the focal point of a living room, if not an entire apartment. It can take up more space than anything else. The Tufty-Time from B&B Italia has become a bestseller thanks to its expansive shape. Patricia Urquiola designed the soft, cloud-like upholstered dream 20 years ago. Now it’s back as Tufty-Time 20: even softer, even more modular and now also circular. We can hardly imagine ever banishing this sofa from our lives again, but if we do, there will be no waste. The new Tufty can be completely dismantled so that all components and materials can be reused. bebitalia.com

Nice to Have
SAUCY SCIENCE
The lazy among us may now be confused, but: there are actually pans that are made specifically for preparing sauces. The cooking pros among us know: The right sauce can transform the dullest dish into a Michelin-star worthy explosion of flavor. Creating it is a science in itself. And for design lovers, the food is of secondary importance. They judge with their eyes, and they say: a bright yellow pan brings life to every kitchen – even those where there is hardly any cooking. knindustrie.it

We Love
KICK IT
Until now, we always thought these table soccer tables belonged in the cellar or in a dimly lit bar. We only realized that they can also be the focal point of a living room when we spotted the sky-blue model from Fas Pendezza. Even if you don’t fancy twisting your wrists while kicking a football, you’ll hardly be bothered by the way this piece puts every other piece of furniture in the shade. Darling
CRAFTSMANSHIP
In times when everything has to be ready the day before yesterday and people mistakenly think that AI can do everything better and faster anyway, Catellani & Smith does what it has always done: Making every single one of their lamps by hand in peace and with care. “There is no stress. Each lamp is given as much time as it needs to be made well,” says founder Enzo Catellani. Can we please apply this philosophy to every other area of life? Then there would certainly be less high blood pressure and heart attacks. bebitalia.com

Anniversary
TIMELESS ETERNITY
We are not designers, but we find it quite frustrating when things were designed a hundred years ago that simply cannot be topped. For example, the B 9 coffee table set by Thonet, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925, which Thonet is celebrating with an anniversary edition including Bauhaus chess pieces by Josef Hartwig. The celebrations go even further: the Bauhaus also moved from Weimar to Dessau one hundred years ago. When Marcel Breuer wasn’t experimenting with tubular steel and making it suitable for the public, he was teaching at the Bauhaus Dessau. His B 9 H stool, which developed into the B 9 set of tables, was originally designed for the canteen of the Bauhaus building in Dessau. The circle closes as harmoniously as a piece of Thonet furniture fits into any living room. thonet.de
