THE HYPE WATCHES & JEWELRY / WINTER 2025/26
We Love
STACK ATTACK
We don’t really believe in rules. This isn’t meant to be a call to illegal activities, but rather refers to fashion. After all, who actually said you should never combine silver and gold? And who do we have to thank for the fact that so many people prefer the “less is more” philosophy when it comes to jewelry? What’s right is whatever feels right to the person wearing the jewelry. So if you’re inspired by Bucherer’s “stacking and layering,” go ahead and mix and match to your heart’s content. And yes, different precious metals should be layered together, too.

Collaboration
UNIQUE FUSION
Watch connoisseurs usually throw around technical terms like “chronograph,” “balance wheel,” or “tourbillon.” For those who aren’t as familiar with timekeeping precision but do count their steps and are available 24/7, the Apple Watch is the perfect companion. It can play podcasts and music, answer calls, send messages, and track your fitness. Oh, and it can tell time, too. The latest edition was created in collaboration with Hermès. That means fashion is now part of the mix as well. The interchangeable straps come in Hermès’ signature colors and materials. Almost even more exciting than the endless features that delight Apple Watch users is the selection of leather and fabric straps. After all, a watch is always a fashion statement, too.

INNOVATIVE SPIRIT
When an inanimate object somehow resembles a human being, it’s called anthropomorphism. But what if an object looks as delicious as a freshly baked cake? Or like a little houseplant? Someone in the philosophy department is bound to have the right technical term for it. Our answer is simple: Cora Sheibani. In her pieces, the Swiss jewelry designer creates the perfect harmony between playfulness and the utmost elegance—whether it’s a cake, a plant, or an abstract geometric shape.

HANDWRITING
Anyone who wears a watch surely also writes by hand. And for those who already own Montblanc timepieces, the logical next step is to reach for their ballpoint pens. With the Christmas and New Year’s season upon us, we should all treat ourselves to a digital detox. Instead of scrolling, we’ll write or draw. And if you do want a little screen time, it’s best to watch a Wes Anderson film. You hardly ever see his characters scrolling—instead, they’re checking their wristwatches or typing furiously on a typewriter.

New Edition
GEN 4
Exactly 20 years ago, Omega’s first “Planet Ocean” made its debut. Not from the ocean itself, but from the watch manufacture, where it was crafted with precise artisanal skill. But as is often the case with watches: There’s always room for improvement—more precision, greater complexity. That’s why the “Planet Ocean” is now in its fourth generation. These models feature screw-down case backs made of Grade 5 titanium instead of sapphire crystal, which reduces the watch’s weight while increasing its durability. Orange, a signature color of Omega for years, is also featured in the new generation. This is by no means a given, as orange is a particularly difficult color to work with when manufacturing ceramic bezel rings due to its chemical properties and the associated processes. By the way: Omega’s maritime history goes back much further than a mere 20 years. Omega’s history of diving watches began as early as 1932 with the introduction of the “Marine”—the very first watch designed for civilian divers.
