The world needs new revolutionaries: TAG Heuer is presenting a new ambassador in actor Jacob Elordi with its new edition of the iconic TAG Heuer Monaco.
Rebels change the world. Just as Steve McQueen coined the term “revolutionary”, the TAG Heuer Monaco heralded a new era in 1969. The square dial relegated its round companions to second place, and the deep black case drew attention to the wrist. What caused a sensation back then still receives thunderous applause today. And so the Swiss watch brand is reissuing its icon in 2022 to pay tribute to the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. What remains: the square bezel and the deep black color that earned the model the nickname “Dark Lord”. TAG Heuer now uses DLC-coated titanium, which equips the timepiece for the track and makes it resistant to all temperatures. The TAG Heuer Monaco Special Edition combines numerous gadgets that are a tribute to motor racing. The feel of the outer ring of the dial, for example, is reminiscent of racing car tires. Individual highlights in rose gold give the new timepiece an upgrade – and at the same time remind us of the legends of the race track who wore their gold watches while concentrating on driving on the track. A glance at the back of the watch will make you gasp, as the movement of the chronograph can be seen here.
Icons stand the test of time, new rebels follow. The TAG Heuer Monaco Special Edition pays tribute to its predecessors, just as Jacob Elordi does as the new Brand Ambassador for Steve McQueens’ legacy. At 24, the Australian is one of Hollywood’s greatest hopes and, thanks to his leading role in the series “Euphoria”, is already one of the best-known stars of his generation.
