Skin on Skin
Sometimes chance helps. Like Caroline Hirt, who stumbles across the leather of the Arapaima in Brazil. At up to 250 kilograms and 4.5 meters long, arapaima is the largest freshwater predatory fish in the world, a delicacy in the Amazon and an ideal source of leather. Instead of carelessly throwing the skin away, the Indians make some money by selling it to the world’s only Arapaima tannery outside Rio de Janeiro. This is where Swiss designer Caroline Hirt sources the leather for her bags, which she designs at home and produces in Italy. Realtrue is the name of her own label, under which she sells handbags, clutches and rucksacks. Everything from a single source, that’s how our outfit should be this season. So that we don’t look too lost among all the patterns, we give the prints a frame: The suit consists of loose-fitting trousers and a fitted blazer – that’s the brief. This is at least as loose as the rose in the buttonhole. Under no circumstances should this look appear stiff. So leave the blazer open, roll up the sleeves and trouser legs, or combine your patterned suit with some neat jewelry and accessories that leave no doubt that you are definitely not on your way to the office.

Belly bags have made it away from the tourist bum to well-toned model bellies. How do you recognize the Swiss abroad? On his Freitag bag, of course. Markus and Daniel Freitag have been indulging their love of truck tarpaulins for 25 years – time for something new! Now four new products have joined the family, showing that Freitag can not only be robust, but also flexible, soft and light.
