“If you’re wearing a real fur coat, you just look like an old, unaware, unconscious human being.” Stella McCartney
Chunky
These days we prefer to wrap ourselves in warm knitwear that makes us feel snug and cozy. Founded in 2021 by Tatjana Stojnic-Bräm, the Blueblood label manufactures its fashion in Europe, plastic-free and using natural materials to minimize its ecological footprint. The result of her first collection are chunky knit sweaters in bright colors that have nothing in common with the knitwear grandma is currently working on. Urban Jungle
The leopard print will never die out, just like toupees and blue eyeshadow. This season, the print can be found on coats, where it presents itself in its most original form. This means: no neon colors and no fancy combinations. The designers pay tribute to the animal model and present fake fur that makes us look twice.
Corona baby
Having just left London, Gina Grünwald suddenly found herself back in Switzerland due to coronavirus. You would think that inspiration would fall by the wayside, as the designer suddenly had to continue her studies at Central Saint Martins College on her PC at home. On the contrary: the fact that the pandemic has caused a boom in protective items and thus increased the pile of Plexiglas waste gave Grünwald the brilliant idea. And so, under her own label GINA GRNW, the Zurich-based designer has created bags from Plexiglas remnants that, with the help of laser machines and traditional crochet, look like accessories from a science fiction film. The Plex Bags are available in sizes XS, S, M and L from approx. 450 via ginagrnw.store, with Gina Grünwald donating ten percent of the proceeds.
Night watch
Horrible weather and a lousy mood make it difficult for us to jump out of bed in the morning. Although the pieces from the collaboration between ZigZagZurich and Julian Zigerli put us in a good mood, they don’t exactly make us happy to get out of bed. After all, the kimono pyjamas are made from the same soft Egyptian cotton that ZigZagZurich uses for its bed linen. Zigerli gives pyjamas and bed linen cool prints that actually put us in the dilemma of not actually wanting to close our eyes when we go to bed. ZigZagZurich X Zigerli, “ZigZagZigerli”, bed linen from approx. 149 and kimono pyjamas from approx. 290.-
Besties
When we sit at home, we wear sweaters and pants from Lamarel. However, Basel-based Sandra Pinto’s label offers much more than just cozy homewear. And it’s no longer just available to admire online, as the designer is opening her own showroom in Basel. Founded in 2018, the label’s collections all originate from Sandra’s pen and are produced fairly and ethically in a production facility in Portugal that is run entirely by women. In addition to basics such as T-shirts, polo shirts and jeans that fit like we’ve never worn anything else, there are now also suits and dresses that fit like a glove from the age of 20. December 2021 can be tried on in the new showroom. Lamarel showroom, Oetlingerstrasse 74, Basel, Monday to Friday, 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., shoplamarel.com
Precious
If you shy away from attention like Count Dracula shies away from sunlight, don’t bother. Because anyone who wears gold is bound to stand out. Especially in crowded public transport, where black and gray start the day shoulder to shoulder. The good news is that not everyone has to dare to wear a trench coat and make a statement. A gold-colored clutch adds a touch of glamour to monochrome outfits, and once we’ve tasted blood, we simply add more with pants, sweaters or midi dresses. Important: Gold wants to be the main actor, which is why other bling-bling is better left at home when implementing this trend.
