Paris Fall/Winter 2024/25 Fashion Week Highlights

Paris Fall/Winter 2024/25 Fashion Week presented an impressive selection of 71 shows and 37 presentations, unveiling the latest trends and innovations in the fashion world. The event marked the debut of new creative directors who brought fresh perspectives to renowned fashion houses. In addition, the return of well-known brands to the official Paris Fashion Week calendar created excitement on the catwalk, while unexpected celebrity appearances and unforgettable moments attracted attention. In addition, fashion combined science with innovative creations that pushed the boundaries of design and technology.

Hammer catwalks

The Dior show was an absolute blast with a mega stage design by Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni, which highlighted the role of the female body in our time in a totally cool way. Chanel was also a hit – they blew the audience away with a movie about Deauville, in which Brad Pitt and Penélope Cruz embodied the beginnings of Chanel in black and white. And Hermès has created a really dramatic mood, with rain on the catwalk, inspired by nature and urban vibes.

Paris Fall/Winter 2024

The Balenciaga show for fall/winter 2024 in Paris fascinated with huge LED screens that projected digitally altered scenes. She took the audience on a narrative journey from dawn to dusk through natural and digital worlds, with the performances changing from real to artificial. You can find the whole show by Balenciaga here.

AND A newcomer to the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, CFCL, a Japanese knitwear label, made its catwalk debut with former Issey Miyake designer Yusuke Takahashi at the helm.

Science x Fashion

Remarkable innovations in science-inspired fashion were prominent highlights at Paris Fall/Winter 2024/25 Fashion Week.

Coperni

The Air Swipe Bag from Coperni, which was launched on 4. March, wowed the industry with its groundbreaking composition of 99% air and 1% glass, using NASA’s silica aerogel technology. Weighing just 33 grams, this accessory embodies design engineering that combines delicate aesthetics with durable construction, thanks to a collaboration with Professor Ioannis Michaloudis. The creative director of Coperni, Sébastien Meyer, described it as “scientific but poetic.

Issey Miyake A-Poc Able

Issey Miyake continued his pioneering role in fashion innovation with his A-Poc Able presentation on the 3rd. March. This project highlighted three pioneering initiatives, including collaborations with photographer Kenta Umemoto and a technology merger with Synflux for zero-waste patterns. Issey Miyake also introduced the University of Tokyo’s pioneering inkjet 4D printing technology, which enabled vibrant colors and complex folds in accessories.

Four things you may have missed

Is that Kate Moss? At the Marine Serre fashion show in Paris, the participants had to look twice: Is that Kate Moss? A Kate Moss lookalike appeared on the catwalk. Denise Ohnona, an internet-famous doppelganger of the supermodel, walked for the French label. Despite the confusion, neither the fashion house nor Kate Moss have commented on Denise’s appearance. You can find the whole Marine Serre show here

How did influencers manage to exert their influence this time? The ban on mobile devices at The Row ‘s Fall/Winter 2024/25 catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week caused a stir. The guests swapped their cell phones for old-fashioned notebooks, which sparked discussions about their marketing strategy.

Sam Smith rocks the catwalk Sam Smith made an unexpected appearance at the unique Vivienne Westwood show by Andreas Kronthaler on Saturday, the 2nd. You can find the whole show of Vivienne Westwood by Andreas Kronthaler here

Peta, Peta, Peta… Is this even news? Peta seems to need its own category as these catwalk protests are becoming regular events. In Milan, we saw protesters on the Fendi catwalk; on 1. March in Paris, a Peta protester disrupted Victoria Beckham’s show with slogans such as “Viva Vegan Leather” and “Animals Aren’t Fabric” before he was quickly removed from the catwalk.you can find the whole show of Victoria Beckham here
