Milano Fashion Week Report : Spring-Summer 2024

From the debut of new creative directors to shows that blurred the lines between the catwalk and the nightlife, Milano Fashion Week once again provided excitement, little rest and plenty of cocktails!

Here are our highlights:

Gucci: Jared & Harry… “sorry not sorry”

Sabato de Sarno made his debut for Gucci this season. Gucci under Alessandro Michele initially created excitement and freshness. The Gucci show invitations were the most coveted in the Milan Fashion Week calendar. But towards the end of his seven-year tenure, Michele’s designs only seemed to be tailored to Jared Leto and Harry Styles. Sabato de Sarno is heralding a new beginning as Gucci’s new creative director. The Gucci spring-summer 2024 collection not only represents a new season, but also a complete relaunch of the brand. We love it!

Moschino: Statement dancers

Moschino celebrated its 40th anniversary and it was the first season without Jeremy Scott. Franco Moschino has always been known for his unconventional approach and rejects minimalism. For Spring – Summer 2024, the brand has collaborated with four close friends of the house: Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Lucia Liu and Katie Grand to create a unique collection. Each of them brought their very own creative vision to the catwalk. Katie Grand was inspired by Franco Moschino’s ingenuity and presented a collection that combines sophistication and provocation. Top-class dancers took over the catwalk and presented Grand’s designs with eye-catching dance moves. The collection consisted of eye-catching bodysuits with oversized question marks and exclamation points, bold black and white outlines that emphasize the human form, and some pieces that feature LOUD LUXURY! in colossal letters. A perfect way to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary.

Sunnei: Judgment is an instinct

Sunnei always shows how creative they are in presenting their shows. Do you remember crowd surfing last season? This season, guests were given score paddles to evaluate the SS24 collection live.

AVAVAV: “The morning after the night before”

After the AVAVAV show produced numerous memes last season, the SS24 catwalk event followed suit. The models appeared with smeared make-up. Some sprinted down the catwalk, others were pushed onto the catwalk and some stormed onto the catwalk and struggled with their clothes.

Diesel: the number one topic of conversation

Diesel totally rocked it! For Glen Martins, the creative director of Diesel, it is clear that “size does count” Martins emphasized the brand experience, as with the latest Diesel spring/summer 2024 collection at Scalo Farini in Milan. Diesel staged his show between an 8-hour rave and a three-day film festival. The show unexpectedly started four hours earlier than planned and was attended by 7,000 guests, including 6,000 members of the public and 1,500 students, underlining Diesel’s inclusive approach. The event blurred the boundaries between the catwalk and underground nightlife and left visitors wanting more. With 71 distinctive looks, Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection exceeded expectations and embodies the brand’s commitment to redefining modern fashion.

And what would Fashion Week be without gossip…

Kylie Jenner casually arrives 47 minutes late to the Dolce & Gabbana show. At the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, Kylie’s 47-minute delay led to a corresponding delay in the start of the show. As a result, the song “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish ran on repeat for almost an hour. Still, the Hulu star explained, “I wanted you guys to know we’re not late. We’re 10 minutes early.”

Stars and celebrities at Milan Fashion Week

At Versace, the presence of some unique companions in the front row was a special moment of the show: Demi Moore with her dog Pilaf and Pierpaolo Piccioli accompanied by his dog Miranda. Ryan Gosling, Julia Roberts, Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner graced the front row at Gucci. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista sat in the front row of Fendi. Emma Watson, Scarlett Johansson and Ayo Edebiri were seen at Prada. When Milan Fashion Week came to an end with the Giorgio Armani show, Cate Blanchett and Juliette Binoche sat in the front row.
