To see one of Berlin’s most fascinating art collections, you have to be invited home by Christian and Karen Boros – or by Chanel.
The couple’s penthouse on the top floor of a former bunker is home to a collection that doesn’t usually steal the show. Unless, that is, Chanel invites you to dinner there for the opening of the Berlinale. This year, the film festival is awarding Tilda Swinton, among others, a Golden Bear for her lifetime achievement. The Scot was the star guest at the intimate soirée, which was attended by a who’s who of the German acting scene. And yet the evening felt like a visit to old friends.
Highlight: Christian Friedel (“Zone of Interest”) impressed with his side hustle, the band Woods of Birnam.
Conclusion: The art of hosting – perfectly presented on this evening.

Apart from great dinner events, the Berlinale is all about films. Find out who won here.
From Chanel to Gucci: we would have loved to have been guests here too.
