A Swiss man without his pocket knife is like an Emmental cheese without holes. We use it to open beer bottles, cut our Cervelat or, if necessary, pick between our teeth. We are now even more delighted to do so with the new limited edition knives from Victorinox, whose ten designs are entirely dedicated to food. Our favorite: the neon advertisement. Victorinox, “Classic Limited Edition 2019 – Food of the World”, approx. 21.-

Spiral or tubular, as a bow or ribbon: there are over 600 types of pasta, of which the Italians consume the most in a global comparison with over 28 kilograms per person per year (the Swiss just ten, the Germans just under six kilos). Nevertheless, the noodle does not come from the south, but from the east, more precisely from China, where it was first eaten 4,000 years ago. To make the world’s longest noodle, the Thais kneaded together almost 300 kilograms of flour with almost 2,000 eggs and 50 kilos of oil. The result: a noodle with a length of 399 meters. Incidentally, the 25th anniversary is dedicated to the city every year. October the pasta – at best with a plate of spaghetti bolognese, the world’s most popular pasta dish.

Nazdarovye!
Anyone who even spends a night behind bars for their idea is a real badass. Well, that’s probably how it goes when you’re poking around for the national vodka secret in Belarus. In any case, Ben, Sascha and Sebastian have made it back to Erfurt – with the formula in their luggage that makes their own water so irresistible that you want to drink it just as much as an ice-cold apple spritzer on a hot, sweaty day. Partisan is emblazoned on on the label of the fine drop that they have produced in a small distillery – with water from the well, grain and that one pinch of love that turns high-proof spirits into a project of the heart. Before the vodka is bottled, it is stored for a few days and finally presented in the 40 or 50 percent variant. And because someone with bumblebees up their ass can’t sit still, the three founders have given their vodka a juniper-inspired sister (the organic Gin Brick). By the way: If you want to experience the aroma of Partisan vodka for yourself outside Germany, order a Hot Russian in the Zurich hipster bar Raygrodski. The best time is when there is something to forget. www.partisan-vodka.de
