Angel Reese was born on 6. Born May 2002 in Randallstown, Maryland. She showed her talent for basketball at an early age, but also for other activities such as ballet, swimming and athletics. She attended Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, where she played on the varsity team for four years. Reese was a dominant force on the field, leading her team to four consecutive league championships. She was twice named All-Metro Player of the Year and was honored as a McDonald’s All-American in 2020.
Reese was the No. 2 ESPN ranked player for her class and chose the University of Maryland for college. She was the highest ranked recruit in the history of the program and had high expectations for herself. Unfortunately, she injured her right foot in her first season and had to sit out several games. Nevertheless, she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and showed her potential as a versatile wing player.
In her second season at Maryland, Reese exploded and became one of the best players in the country. She averaged 19.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game and was named an Associated Press third-team All-American. She led Maryland to the Big Ten title and the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.
After her outstanding season, however, Reese decided to transfer to LSU, where she wanted to play under legendary coach Kim Mulkey. Reese was nicknamed Bayou Barbie because of her eye-catching style and personality. She quickly became the leader of the team and the fans’ favorite player.
Reese had a historic season at LSU, setting several records. She averaged 23.7 points and 15.1 rebounds per game and had 32 double-doubles, the most in a single NCAA season all-time. She was named a unanimous first-team All-American and was named SEC Player of the Year. She led LSU to its first national title in program history and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
In addition to her success on the field, Reese is also a successful businesswoman and influencer. She has signed several partnerships with top brands such as Coach and McDonald’s, thanks to the new scheme that allows college athletes to benefit from her name, image and likeness (NIL). She also signed a contract with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and was featured on the cover of the 2023 issue. Reese has over a million followers on Instagram, where she entertains her fans with her outfits, make-up looks and funny videos.
Angel Reese is an inspiration to many young girls who dream of playing basketball or just being themselves. She is a strong, confident and creative woman who is not afraid to speak her mind or express her style. She is more than just a basketball player – she is an icon.
