FACES: What is the definition of CATRICE’s euphoric beauty look?
Loni Baur: Euphoria describes an intense, exuberant joy and enthusiasm. Bright, gaudy colors that accentuate the eyes meet expressive blush. We use eye-catching shades to create exciting color gradients from the eye to the temple to the cheek. The focus is on the eye area, whereby we only slightly emphasize the eyelashes and eyebrows. The BOOST UP Volume & Lash Boost Mascara provides an instant volume effect and conditions the lashes. Eyebrows can be shaped with the Brow Fix Shaping Wax. With The Glowifier Illuminating Primer, we give our complexion a soft glow.
F: How do you manage not to look dressed up with so much color?
LB: The trick is not to accentuate all parts of the face with bright, cheerful colors at the same time, but only the eye area. We choose a nude shade for the lips. The CATRICE Shine Bomb Lipstick in the shades “Everyday Favorite”, “Blushed Nude”, “Divine Feminity” or “Secret Crush” is ideal here, as it simultaneously has a caring effect and gives a high-gloss finish.
F: Eye shadow, blush and lipstick: How do you find out which colors go well together?
LB : With the euphoric beauty look, it’s important that the colors of the eyeshadow and blush are coordinated. For the lips, choose a shade that comes as close as possible to the natural lip color. Warm shades with a golden or yellowish shimmer are better suited to a warm skin type. Cool shades with a bluish shimmer such as raspberry, violet or fuchsia look correspondingly more harmonious on cool skin types. If we look at the veins on our palms and wrists, we can see whether they tend to be greenish or bluish-purple. The former indicates a warm skin tone, the latter a cool skin tone. However, there are also neutral skin tones that lie in between – here there is a free choice of colors.
F: With so much color, there is an increased risk of the powdery textures crumbling, slipping into fine lines or fading over the course of the day. How do you counteract this?
LB: The right tools in the form of make-up brushes make a big difference here. You can also apply a little eyeshadow to the back of your hand first and then apply it to the eyelid. I wouldn’t apply the blush directly, but tap the brush on the back of my hand first to remove any excess texture. It is better to apply several thin coats to intensify the color effect instead of creating a thick layer, as this is bound to cause crumbling. I also always make sure to use highly pigmented textures if I want an intense color effect.
F: What should we do if we have applied too much powder eyeshadow or blush?
LB: I would first try to remove the excess powder texture with a clean brush. You can use a blender brush to try to blend the contours and the color gradient. Only when none of this helps does everything have to be redone.
F: What brushes do we need to have on hand for this type of look?
LB: We need an Eyeshadow Brush and a Blender Brush for eye make-up, a Cheek Brush for the cheeks and temples – and a Lip Brush for lipstick.
F: How do make-up brushes stay beautiful and usable for a long time?
LB: The be-all and end-all of brush care is proper cleaning. Brushes for liquid textures should ideally be cleaned after each use. Brushes for powdery textures every two to four weeks, depending on how often they are used. Baby shampoo or a mild shower gel can be used as a cleanser. Pour some lukewarm water into a washbasin, dissolve a little shampoo or shower gel in it and then carefully move the brush bristles back and forth in the water, then rinse the brush head under clear water. To dry, either place the brushes on a clean kitchen towel or hang them upside down. Do not use a hairdryer or place the brushes on the heater.
F: Where is the focus this season: on lips, eyes or nails?
LB: This season, the focus is mainly on the eyes. However, the eye make-up is not limited to the eyelids and eyelashes, but extends with bright colors to under the eyebrows and to the sides, where it is then blended up to the temples with a matching, eye-catching blush shade.
F: Which colors are in high season now?
LB: Red, yellow and orange tones, pink and berry shades are particularly on trend now and create the “euphoric” effect that defines the euphoric beauty look – e.g. B. the CATRICE Pro Desert Romance Slim Eyeshadow Palette in combination with an Airblush Matt in the shades “Peach Heaven” or “Berry Breeze”. But bright blue and turquoise shades are also possible as a contrast, for example as eyeliner.
F: What new beauty products should we definitely have on our radar this season?
LB: This season, in addition to the great colors, there are also many products that combine several functions. The Glowifier Illuminating Primer, for example, not only gives a beautiful golden shimmer, but also cares for the skin at the same time. The BOOST UP Volume & Lash Boost Mascara also has a nourishing effect.
F: Wind, rain, fog: How does our make-up last all day in fall, and which products and looks should we avoid?
LB: If we prime our face with a primer before applying make-up, the look lasts better than without a primer. It also helps to apply several thin layers on top of each other. This looks better and lasts longer. With waterproof products such as the LIFT UP Volume & Lift Mascara Power Hold Waterproof or the Kohl Kajal Waterproof, we can also ensure that they last longer.
