A chef who is also involved in the fashion scene, an actor who we want to adore above all on the theater stage, a music icon who provides deep insights in her autobiography – we can hardly save ourselves from heroines and heroes who inspire us.
Iris Law
Family Goals
Iris Law wrote her first headline at the age of two. The police had to be called because the daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost had accidentally swallowed an ecstasy pill. Her children’s birthday parties also had the glamor of a West End party thanks to guests such as godmother Kate Moss. The fashion designer – mentored by Stella McCartney – is now emulating the supermodel as the face of campaigns for Dior, Miu Miu and Guess Jeans. The new boyfriend and footballer Trent Alexander Arnold has hit the bull’s eye.
Needs a red carpet for family celebrations.
Marques Brownlee
IT-Boy
In the tech arena, Marques Brownlee’s YouTube videos are Caesar’s thumbs. When he points upwards, his audience of millions knows about the quality of the latest gadgets. When it points downwards, start-ups that rip off their customers with cheap products and cheeky scams are left to fester. In contrast, the award-winning influencer regularly sits down with big names such as Tim Cook and Barack Obama for interviews, which are also exciting if you’re not just interested in things that need to be plugged in.
The only tech support we need.
Slim Soledad
Cosmic Carnival
Slim Soledad’s debut EP “Space Manual For Those Who Can not Swim” probably has enough oomph to launch a rocket into space. I don’t know, we’re not NASA. The Brazilian artist combed through their sound archive and transformed space sounds into unearthly underground techno. As co-founder of the Chernobyl collective, the DJ and producer has taken Sâo Paulo’s queer nightlife to the next level and now brings ecstasy to clubs and fashion shows in Berlin and Paris. Sky’s the limit? There’s much more to it than that.
Turns distant planets into glittering disco balls.
Isak Danielson
Swede Dreams
This summer, our favorite thing to do was swim in Isak Danielson’s “Sweat”. The song sounds more appetizing than this metaphor, I promise. If there were a ministry for melancholy in Sweden, the singer would undoubtedly head it. But with “Sweat”, the artist is now also showing a seductive side and will soon be releasing his fifth album, which will also propel him beyond his home country’s borders into the international pop aristocracy. So don’t miss the release of “Truly Yours, Isak” at the end of September.
Sweating instead of sighing.
Emma Corrin
Dressed to Thrill
Many a Hollywood blockbuster wishes for the kind of press that Emma Corrin’s premiere outfits generate. Hardly any other star is currently daring so much on the red carpet and hitting the mark. The provocative style icon had her breakthrough as Princess Diana in the fourth season of “The Crown”, and this summer she kicked royal ass in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. This means that Corrin, the first non-binary person to be featured on a Vogue cover in 2022, is definitely sitting on the big levers of America’s dream factory.
Her superpower: outfits that are stunning.
Anwar Carrots
Orange you rad
Where Anwar Carrots sows his talent, style sprouts from the street. It’s hard to imagine Los Angeles without his streetwear label Carrots, like a roller skater on Venice Beach or a star on the Walk of Fame. From the rest of the world, big brands are knocking on the door to harvest crisp ideas from the designer and creative director. A capsule collection drop staged as a farmers’ market? It’s on. Puma’s new sneaker collection? It’s on too – and stands out. Thanks to the brightest orange ever seen outside a safety vest factory.
He is always right with his ideas.
Kathleen Hanna
Femmetastique
When punk was learning feminism, Kathleen Hanna was one of its first lecturers. With her band Bikini Kill, the American became a figurehead when the riot grrrl movement was making waves in the early 1990s. With her later groups Le Tigre and The Julie Ruin, the singer remained in tune with the zeitgeist and hit the right notes for her activism. The new autobiography “Rebel Girl” is a must-read for anyone who loves punk rock as much as pink lipstick. And the rest of you should browse through it too.
Punk legend at work.
Pierce Abernathy
Chef’s Kiss
When Pierce Abernathy uploads cooking clips to TikTok and Instagram, it’s not just stomachs that rumble, but also hearts. The American shakes healthy, light dishes out of his sleeve (if he wears a top at all) and looks as cute as a teddy bear made of cotton candy. Fashion houses such as Gucci and Ralph Lauren, who have brought the 29-year-old out of the kitchen and onto their catwalks, are now also working up an appetite. And yet we believe that his career has only just reached the starter stage.
Indulge in a quick cup of glory.
Amina Muaddi
Stepping Up
Her high heels are flying high. Over the past five years, Amina Muaddi has shown the right toe sensitivity and almost single-handedly turned her eponymous brand into one of the hottest new discoveries in the luxury segment. Wide heels, rich colors and original designs are the trademarks; Kendall Jenner and Rihanna are just two of her celebrity fans. With the latter, the trained designer launched a collection for Fenty that was as coveted this summer as a berth at the marina in Cannes.
Taking big steps up the ladder of success.
Andrew Scott
Drama King
Dear tech companies, please open your wallets. We have an idea for a new streaming service: Andrew+, or Scottflix for our sake. We’re ready to negotiate the name. But one thing is certain: only theatrical performances by Andrew Scott will be streamed. Because as great as the actor may have been in recent series such as “Ripley” or “Fleabag”, the Irishman’s dramatic talent is revealed on a completely different level on the live stage. And we’re tired of only being able to admire it in short clips on TikTok.
Suit like water ice and talent to melt away.
Jude Bellingham
Big Shot
Wasn’t there something about soccer the other day? Some major tournament that England lost again because Admiral Nelson once made a deal with the devil: I win the Battle of Trafalgar, but England won’t win a soccer tournament for 100 years. No matter, midfield star Jude Bellingham still drove everyone crazy and made the European Championship his showcase. And he picked up the consolation prize shortly afterwards: As the new brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton, he has his kit ready in case he wins the Ballon d’Or in the near future.
In the middle of the field, at the forefront of fashion.
Alex Consani
Big City Bombshell
If things keep going like this for Alex Consani, she will replace the Statue of Liberty as New York’s First Lady. The 21-year-old uses her everyday escapades in the Big Apple to produce juicy viral videos that inspire an audience of millions on TikTok. But it’s not just the streets of Manhattan and subway stations in Brooklyn that are her stomping ground. Ferragamo, Burberry and Versace are all vying for the It girl on their catwalks. Now Alex has become the first trans woman to be nominated for the Model of the Year Award. A dream career in the city that never sleeps…
In the prime of her career.
Still not enough? Then here’s the next batch of faces that have turned our heads.
