New creative directors – Milano Fall / Winter 2024/25 Fashion Week
This season of Milano Fashion Week marked an exciting change as fresh creative directors took the helm at several well-known fashion houses. Adrian Appiolaza for Moschino: Following the recent loss of David Renne, Appiolaza’s debut collection at Moschino marked a significant moment for the brand. Walter Chiapponi for Blumarine: Chiapponi aimed to revitalize Blumarine through inspiration from its rebellious-romantic era of the 1990s. Matteo Tamburini for Tod’s: Tamburini’s arrival signaled a transformative phase for Tod’s and promised a departure from conventional approaches.
The second rounds: Sabato De Sarno and Peter Hawkins in focus
With their “second collections”, Sabato De Sarno for Gucci and Peter Hawkins for Tom Ford followed their highly acclaimed debuts in spring/summer 24. Despite praise, one question remained: Can they step out of the shadow of Tom Ford for Gucci and his eponymous brand?
Gucci
Sabato de Sarno’ s goal for the Gucci Fall/Winter 2024 collection is to realize his fashion dreams by embracing subtlety and defying convention. He wants to explore different dynamic styles and harmoniously combine minimalism and glamor. The collection showcases impeccable coat-making skills and highlights Gucci’s commitment to craftsmanship and technique. You can find Gucci’s full show here.
Tom Ford
Peter Hawkings, who heads Tom Ford, presented his “control and determination” in his own vision. In 25 years under Ford, he created his own path and rejected “archive research”. Inspired by the “Pola woman”, he gave his collection a “modern sensibility” while honoring Ford’s legacy. In the midst of “power dressing”, irony and femininity met and reflected contemporary dissonances. You can find the whole show by Tom Ford at here.
Gossip from Milan Fashion Week
The Ferragnez chapter is over: in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Fashion Week, it was announced that fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni and rapper Fedez, once the dream couple of Front Row, have allegedly split up. Fashion Week protests: What would Fashion Week be without PETA protesters? An anti-fur protester disrupted Fendi’s catwalk finale, highlighting its ongoing efforts to promote animal-free fashion. Anne Hathaway lights up the Versace afterparty: Hathaway stole the show with her energetic dance moves, adding a touch of glamor to the Versace afterparty. Someone filmed the scene of Hathaway dancing energetically to “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj at the Versace after-show party and shared the video on social media.
Celebrity sightings
Milano Fashion Week once again attracted a star-studded line-up, with the likes of Julianne Moore, A$AP Rocky and Salma Hayek gracing the various shows and presentations.
