Fashion Shortcuts January/ February 2020

“You don’t have to carry a bag that costs more than a car to look cool.” Kesha

Attention, please!

Okay. Cocktail rings are not exactly a cheap investment, but one that pays off. A piece like this enhances any look and skillfully draws attention to
(hopefully perfectly filed) Nails and soft hands. The “Passione” ring from Capolavoro for approx. strikes the right balance between too much and too little. 13’570.-. 279 brilliant-cut diamonds justify the price – as does saving for a while .

Puzzle

Diversity is what makes life exciting – and fashion. That’s why we’re forgetting uniformity and digging out the pieces that shake up materials, patterns and colors like a bartender shakes up cocktail ingredients. Chunky knit meets fine knit, smooth meets rough and suede, velvet meets glitter – not to mention the color combinations. It’s best to choose a cool patchwork piece for your outfit and build the look around it. Pick up the colors or the materials, but hold back on the accessories. Patchwork allows for a lot, but at some point the addiction to combinations has to end. Michael Kors Collection, leather and shearling jacket, approx. 2’570.-(netaporter.com)

Three stripes

The more eye-catching, the better. Sneakers have long since outstripped ballerinas, boots and the like. And even if Gucci or Off-White continue to fuel the hype about flat shoes: Somehow we always come back to the classics. Adidas is one of the big players whose sneakers have made it onto the feet of  Run DMC or Madonna. 357 pairs of shoes adorn the Adidas archive, which will soon be available to browse through in the form of a book of the same name. Christian Habermeier and Sebastian Jäger, “The Adidas Archive. The Footwear Collection”, bags, from February 2020, approx. 140.-

My Own

A quick walk outside with the dog? The best way to do this is to throw our waxed Barbour jacket over our shoulders; a classic that always works. With “My Barbour”, we can now give our favorite individuality: the colors of the inner lining, outer material and corduroy collar can be chosen according to your wishes and style, and if you like, you can also add your own initials to your jacket. The wax jackets are manufactured and customized in the north of England, where the weather knows no mercy. If the sun isn’t shining, at least your own jacket will put a smile on your face. Barbour, models “Beadnell” and “Bedale” individualized from approx. 438.- (www.barbour.com/my-barbour)

Liesel

Netflix is annoying, it’s too cold outside to go jogging, and somehow we don’t feel like cooking either. Instead of sinking into the winter depression, we look for something new to do. Knitting would be something that combines the fun with the useful. The new sweaters that were everywhere to be seen on the catwalk were
(for example at Preen or Antonio Marras), can also be knitted by yourself with a little practice (and patience). And if we get stuck between patterns and stitches , we simply ring through to mom.

Centerpiece

It took Son of a Tailor just 39 minutes to raise almost 14,000 euros on Kickstarter. This is not only due to the convincing presentation, but of course to the concept. The Danish company is declaring war on fashion waste and only produces its clothing to order and made to measure using a 3D printer. The result: a reduced return rate, no overproduction and minimal textile waste. The 3D machine produces T-shirts and pullovers from
Son of a Tailor in one piece, after the consumer has chosen merino or cotton and his favorite color and has specified weight and age in addition to clothing and shoe size. An algorithm calculates the correct size before production starts. Son of a Tailor now sends its clothing free of charge from Denmark to 140 countries, from approx. 46. here we go. www.sonofatailor.com

Second chance

Discarded favorites don’t end up in the garbage can! But at Vestiaire Collective, the luxury second-hand store par excellence. The platform has been giving designer bags, jewelry, clothing, etc. a second life for ten years. The most expensive product sold: a Hermès Crocodile Birkin Bag for 81,691.65 euros. For example, a Céline bracelet found a new owner in just 57 seconds, and the best-selling product in 2019 was the Dior Saddle Bag. Browse or sell yourself: Both are possible at Vestiaire Collective. www.vestiairecollective.com
