“Welcome back, eighties”, shouts our beautiful April cover. Rosa Eimann, our cover model, is also celebrating the colorful decade. We asked her a few questions and found out, among other things, what mindset is best for modeling, what she always carries in her bag and what she dreams of for her future.

FACES: How does it feel to see your own face on a magazine cover?
Rosa Eimann: It feels pretty good, there’s no other way to put it. Because so many jobs can only be seen online, it’s always special to see the work you do in real life and hold it in your hands.
F: Tell us something about yourself: Where are you from, how did your journey as a model begin? Has it always been a dream of yours?
RE: I come from Halle (Saale) in Germany. I grew up there and now I live in Berlin and study product design alongside modeling. I’ve been modeling for a while now. I was scouted in Copenhagen on a family vacation when I was 16 and then I started. Before that, I had never really thought about modeling, but maybe I would have tried it anyway at some point if I hadn’t been approached.
Q: What do you like better: shootings or the runway?
RE: Both have their pros and cons. I probably even like shootings better, because shows are so stressful. But that moment when you’re on the catwalk is worth it!

Q: Your favorite shoot or runway so far?
RE: My first show will always be special to me because it was also my first time modeling. I was 17, in Paris for the first time and walked for Valentino. It was so exciting for me back then and my first insight into this world. I always like to think back to that!
F: Our shoot, which also produced the cover, was all about the eighties. Do you like the eighties aesthetic? Which decade can you identify with the most?
RE: I love the eighties! Be it fashion, music or anything else. I’ve always been very inspired by this era. Apart from that, I also find the seventies, nineties or twenties exciting. I couldn’t really pin myself down, as areas such as fashion and music always take inspiration from earlier decades and reinterpret things. A lot of things are connected with each other, which is the exciting thing for me.
“My style is something between rock, retro, girly and above all colorful!“

Q: How would you describe your personal clothing style and has it changed a lot since you started working as a model?
RE: My style is something between rock, retro, girly and above all colorful! I love wearing lots of colors, combining patterns and I like to stand out with what I wear. But above all, my goal is to always have fun with what I wear! And secretly I just try to look like a rockstar girlfriend (laughs). My style has definitely changed since I started modeling, but that’s more because I started at 16 and I’m 21 now. I don’t think it has had much influence on my personal style otherwise. Except when I go to castings and have to wear boring black outfits, because then it’s not completely me!
Q: What would you change about the fashion industry right now if you could?
RE: Waiting hours for castings! It always feels like a waste of time. Of course I could do something productive in that time, but mostly I just sit and listen to music…
F: What tips would you give to young girls who want to work as models? And looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
RE: Don’t stress so much, because it’s out of your hands. If clients like you, they’ll book you, and if they don’t, they won’t. There’s not much you can do. If you put too much pressure on yourself in this job, it can get you so down and you miss out on the best part! Try to enjoy the opportunities you are given, travel, meet people, have fun and take what you can with you. This job can give you so much if you approach it with the right mindset.
“This job can give you so much if you approach it with the right mindset.“

Q: Which designer or brand would you drop everything for if they booked you?
RE: For me it will always be Saint Laurent!
Q: Who or what inspires you the most?
RE: The people around me! Every time new people come into my life, I learn and grow so much. I really appreciate that.
Q: What’s your favorite way to spend your time when you’re not modeling?
RE: I’ve started studying, so I’m spending a lot of time at university at the moment, which I really enjoy. I’m at art school, so I draw a lot and try things out. Otherwise, I’ve recently been trying to learn bass guitar. Maybe I’ll become a rock star one day after all…
Q: Tell us something unexpected or surprising about yourself!
RE: I love tea, so I always have tea bags in my bag that I take with me from somewhere. So if you ever see me somewhere and need a tea, I got you!
Q: What three things could you not live without?
RE: Airwaves chewing gum in purple (I really do have gum in my mouth all the time), Google Maps – my Maps really is my Holy Grail, I have everything saved on it -, sunglasses!
Q: What’s on your bucket list?
RE: Lots of destinations in South and Central America! These are often countries where I don’t necessarily get to go with my modeling. So I definitely have to go there privately!
