People barbecue and eat, chat and drink, look up at the stars and out into the distance: great stories begin and end on the balcony, dramas take place here and conversations take place that the neighbors listen to instead of staring at the TV inside. They are an urban oasis and green space, a place of retreat, a breakfast spot, a smoker’s hangout and a place where we make plans.
