Art Attack
Have you taken hundreds of photos that are now languishing on your hard disk? Too bad. It’s worth choosing the best shots after your vacation and sticking them in an album – or putting them on the wall. White Wall prints your favorite picture on aluminum, wood or acrylic glass or brings it to your wall in various other stylish ways. Palm tree on canvas? Gladly. Portrait framed and behind museum glass? At any time. You can do this conveniently online or on site at the counter and with expert advice from professionals who know how to turn your vacation pictures into works of art. whitewall.com
Places
Wonderland
A hackneyed phrase, but it hits the nail on the head: because at WunderLocke, the name says it all. The newly opened hotel is Munich’s current it-place and the place to meet for a nightcap. If you want to put your head on the pillow, you can stay in one of 360 apartments that make design hearts beat like rabbits. Not in the mood for anything long-term, but only here for a short time? Then off to the co-working area, the café, one of the event rooms or simply to relax in the outdoor pool. The WunderLocke is a land of milk and honey for design aesthetes who like to lose track of time while raving. Artists and creatives sit at their laptops here, while start-ups reinvent the world one door down. In addition to the design, the real highlight is the Mural Farmhouse, a Michelin-starred restaurant concept that offers everything from a café to a cocktail bar and a fine dining experience to make your palate and stomach happy. It doesn’t get any grander than this? Then off and up to the green roof, where the rooftop farmhouse with a view of the Alps beckons. Overnight stay in a room from approx. 130, WunderLocke, Hofmannstraße 45, 81379 Munich, lockeliving.com
Book
Do you know?
Think of the Alex and the Reichstag. And the tourists who flock through the city like frightened chickens. What will remain of Berlin? Architecture that makes your heart skip a beat. Sarah Eick has photographed them all, the Alte Kongresshalle, Teufelsberg, the water circulation tank at the zoo – places that surprise even local city dwellers. One hundred of them have been published by Seltmann Publishers as “100 Places in Berlin” and are so beautifully printed and bound that no one doubts the value of print products any more. Stand out
All gray, blue or black. And which one is yours now? You know the dilemma: you come back from vacation, are relaxed, tanned and in a great mood. The flight was okay, and you’re not all that wrinkled after a few hours of traveling. But then, the super disaster: your suitcase is gone. The reason: confusion. Shit. Would that happen to you if your suitcase stood out from the crowd like your neon-colored swimming trunks on the beach? No. So you see, there’s an argument for putting aside a few bucks for a stylish wheeled suitcase from Hermès. Hermès, “R.M.S Line”, design by Katie Scott, approx. 7’950.-, hermes.com

Ugly
Be honest: airports are always kind of stupid. The anticipation of the journey ahead too often makes us overlook how ugly the halls are in which we wait for boarding, how poorly the air circulates and how worn out the seats are in which we reluctantly take our seats. Holidu has looked at the Google ratings of international airports and created a ranking based on this. The result: Bordeaux-Mérignac in France is the worst airport rated on Google with a score of 2.7. Only just behind: Iraklio, Greece and Luton, the unruly sister of England’s Heathrow Airport. Not only aesthetic aspects are criticized, but also poor service, chaotic security checks, unfriendly staff, massive queues and a lack of local transport connections. holidu.ch
