We pack the most beautiful make-up brushes in our suitcases, have to go to London to marvel at Wes Anderson’s film props and dream of solo trips with endless me-time: here are our current favorites from the world of travel.

DETAIL LOVED
Wes Anderson’s iconic film characters are always on the move. Whether they’re jetting through India on a long-distance train with suitcases as in “The Darjeeling Limited”, setting off into the middle of nowhere overcome by youthful recklessness as in “Moonrise Kingdom”, or landing on an island full of dogs as in “Isle of Dogs” – an Anderson character never stands still. We get the travel bug too. Destination: London. More precisely: The Design Museum, where over 600 objects from Anderson films are on display. These include the three-meter-wide model of the legendary Grand Budapest Hotel, costumes, sketches, stop-motion figures and even some of the Texan director’s handwritten notebooks. Anyone who still believes that the film industry can be replaced by AI after this exhibition is beyond help. Real professionals like Mr. Anderson know: There’s nothing like manual labor, creativity – and physical travel.

ME-TIME
We don’t want to offend anyone, but sometimes people are just annoying. Or, to put it in positive terms: How about a cozy solo trip towards the end of the year? Finally devouring a book in one go, not speaking a word for 24 hours in a row – or talking to yourself 24/7, whatever your heart desires – making plans for the new year and simply winding down. Where can you do that? For example, in the cozy Nutchel cabins in the Belgian Ardennes or in Alsace in France. There’s no Wi-Fi there – we want to read books, after all – but there’s no end of coziness. Or in the minimalist Neugrad design cabins, just an hour away from Cologne. In the middle of the Eifel National Park, being alone is a luxury. And on the Danish island of Møn lies Villa Huno, a boutique hotel that is just crying out for a solo trip.

Nice to Have
PINSEL TO GO
Two kinds of people pack brushes in their luggage: artists who want to capture their surroundings on paper or canvas while traveling and make-up lovers who want to contour on the go. Hermès has the perfect solution for the latter if only hand luggage is allowed. The “Les Voyageurs” travel set contains six make-up brushes, from eyeshadow and contour brushes to the brand new multifunctional brush. The make-up tools are assembled and produced by hand in a French manufactory that has specialized in the production of brushes since 1793.

Collaboration
OUTDOOR COUTURE
Normally, outdoor clothing and equipment have nothing to do with runway creations. Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen changed that this spring by merging her hyper-feminine couture style with the outdoor expertise of The North Face. The functional bags, embellished with embroidery, were so well received that they are now being re-released in a new colorway. The classic black is now joined by a taupe green. We’ve always known that mountain expeditions or less extreme excursions into the wilderness can also be done in style.

New Opening
745 YEARS OF HISTORY
What were people actually doing around 1280? Some of them were already wearing spectacles, because they were invented around then. There were also the first paper mills. Sounds more romantic than today. In 1280, an ensemble of buildings was also built, which today has become the Boutique Hotel 1280 Krone. After five years of renovation, three historic buildings have been merged into this dream with 29 rooms and suites. Each one is as individual as the era from which it originates. In the spa suite you can enjoy your own sauna and in the rooftop suite you can climb up to the gallery via an automatically opening skylight. During the careful renovation, Gothic paintings were uncovered and a blue room was discovered. Contemporary comforts were a must, but otherwise this listed retreat is entirely in keeping with its centuries-old history.1280 Krone, Hauptstraße 33, 78187 Geisingen, Germany,
