Snow-covered mountains or Californian sun: that is the crucial question. In our Travel News of the Month, you’ll find both – and plenty of inspiration for everything in between.
New Opening
Eternal Summer
Anyone who doesn’t warm to mountains, snow or mulled wine-soaked Christmas markets will have to travel a long way – which can be well worth it. In California, where snow is known to most of the population only from stories, bright sunshine is as much a part of everyday life as the celebrities who build their mansions in and around Los Angeles for good reason. But the City of Angels also offers space for travelers in search of the sun, for example at the newly opened Regent Hotel in Santa Monica. Thanks to its modern yet creative interior design, you could easily mistake it for a movie set. And with the ocean within walking distance, you’ll want to turn your week-long stay into a permanent residence.

Accidentally Wes Anderson is the name given to a place that is reminiscent of the American filmmaker’s unmistakable aesthetic thanks to its pastel colors and striking symmetry. The fact that such places, which could have come straight from the film set, are scattered all over the world inspired Wally and Amanda Koval to create the popular Instagram account @accidentallywesanderson. In 2020, the virtual collection of the most aesthetic corners of the earth culminated in a book of the same name. Now the whole thing is entering its second round and proving it: The world is a Wes Anderson backdrop, if you look closely enough. There’s no other way to explain how it’s possible to fill another 368 pages with the sweetest Wes Anderson-esque locations from around the world. For the biggest Anderson fans among us, the book serves not only as a coffee-table decoration, but as a travel guide for your next vacation.

Snow dream
Snow glistening in the sun, hot tea, a dip in the spa after a day of skiing outside – this is how we imagine the ideal December and January. This is exactly how you can spend the winter months at Le Mélézin above the French town of Courchevel. The hotel reopens its doors to winter lovers just in time for the season in mid-December. If you do start to freeze on the slopes, there is plenty to discover inside, such as the spa area or the hotel’s Japanese signature restaurant. And of course the rooms themselves: Each of the 31 rooms offers views of the ski slopes, mountains or forests.

The Farouche Tremblant Cabins outside Montreal are at the top of our travel list. Small but beautiful cabins with not much more than a cozy bed promise closeness to nature and pure relaxation.

Nice to Have
Sleepy
Whether by train, bus or plane – it’s usually not very comfortable to sleep when traveling. However, if you are traveling for several hours, a nap can not only shorten the travel time, but is also necessary to start the vacation with energy when you arrive at your destination. Neck pillows, sleep masks and other products from Slip do their best to make our travel time more comfortable.
Still undecided about where to go on your next trip? A castle wouldn’t be bad either.
