Shortcuts Travel March 2019

“Everything in Venice is just a little bit creepy, as much as it’s beautiful.” Christopher Moore

110 million

The Emirates airline transports 55 million passengers a year, connecting 140 cities on six continents. If you fly for a long time, you need something to eat. And so Emirates serves 110 million menus a year, including an increasing number of vegan dishes. In January 2019 alone, the airline served 20,000 animal-free dishes. Vegans will be pleased: Emirates now also offers vegan cheese.

Hunter

Anyone who dives to compete with predators has to be a lot faster . The “Dive X-tras Piranha P3 Diving Scooter”, with which you can get up to 71 meters per minute, gives you real speed. The battery lasts 450 minutes and the device can be used down to a depth of almost 200 meters. All this fun for people who already have everything is quite a strain on the wallet: For the lightest, albeit fastest, diving scooter you have to fork out 7,995 dollars.

Spoil yourself

The Bawah Reserve is literally at the end of the world, 150 nautical miles northeast of Singapore. Six islands belong to the resort, which extends over 300 hectares. Dense jungle, three protected lagoons and 13 sandy beaches, whiter than in the Raffaello advertisement, make up the paradise that can be explored here . However, those seeking relaxation will have to make the journey via Singapore and by ferry or seaplane – but here in the middle of the South China Sea you can really enjoy your peace and quiet. Only 70 guests can stay at Bawah   Reserve in one of 35 suites and stilt bungalows. Incidentally, no expense was spared in the construction of these: the basic structure is made of bamboo or recycled teak and was created by hand, the open bathroom has elements made of recycled copper and the terrace furniture is made of driftwood. Bawah Reserve, overnight stay in an overwater bungalow for two persons incl. breakfast. Transfer from Singapore, one spa treatment per person per day and breakfast, lunch and dinner from approx. 2’400.-, www.bawahreserve.com
