“I’ve been to Russia, I’ve been to Asia. I’ve been everywhere. But, if you ask me: What did you see? I haven’t seen anything because I’ve only seen hotels.” Sophia Loren

Sit at home and mope? We don’t, life is too beautiful for that. It sucks that we can’t discover the world right now, yes. But fortunately there are works like Steve McCurry’s “The World in My Eyes”, which take us to exotic places, to people who have completely different worries than keeping their feet still for a while. The photographer bundles 40 years of travel in his book, memories from Antarctica, Afghanistan, the GDR and Tibet – 100 pictures that inspire you to dream and to work on your bucket list at home. Steve McCurry, “The World in My Eyes”, Knesebeck, ca. 83.-

Sleeping under the stars, where you can still see them properly, where neither light nor noise destroy the idyll and we are one with nature, which envelops us like a blanket. We experience this during our stay at the Faloria Mountain Spa Resort, a five-star temple in Cortina, Italy. In the main hotel we sleep happily and look forward to the adventurous part, for which – depending on the season – the four-wheel drive car or snowmobile will take us up to 2,300 meters above sea level. At dusk, the Dolomites look even more impressive, and when it is dark, we reach our destination: the Starlight Room, our home for the night. Here we sleep under a canopy of stars, with only the glass ceiling separating us from the sky, from whose darkness the stars shine down on us. The mobile bedroom made of glass and fir wood rotates on its own axis, giving us the best view at all times. After waking up, we head back down to the valley, where we relax in the 1,000 square meter wellness area of the Faloria Mountain Spa Resort and reflect on the universe and the silence that surrounded us last night. Faloria Mountain Spa Resort, Via Milazzo 1, 20121 Milan, Italy, two nights in the hotel and one night in the Starlight Room for two people incl. Breakfast, dinner and spa entry for two people from approx. 970.-, www.nemomonti.com

Hard to believe, but true: the postcard is celebrating its 150th birthday. Birthday. Everything is different in this anniversary year. According to a survey by YouGov, in 2020 we are not sending scribbled lines from a vacation, but on the occasion of a birthday. And why not, because every person sitting at home is happy to receive a message in A6 format, especially in times of coronavirus.
