Watches and Wonders is the most important watch fair in the world. We were there and have put together the most beautiful watches and spectacular new products for you.

John Mayer writes songs for moments when you wish time would stand still. But the seven-time Grammy winner always has them in mind. With a watch collection worth at least 10 million dollars and expertise that has made him a juror at the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève, the singer and guitarist is an expert in high-end horology. He is particularly fond of the Audemars Piguet models. Mayer has now developed its own model of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with the traditional Swiss manufacturer. The “John Mayer” edition is limited to 200 pieces and its dial captures the infinite starry sky on our wrist.

We do not tolerate the insinuation that our graphics department has inadvertently placed a mirror image of this Santos-Dumont in the magazine. In fact, with this model – named after the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont – Cartier makes time run backwards. Although it is not possible to travel back in time, Cartier will certainly amaze you in the present.

World record!
It’s complicated
People tend to want to make things easy for themselves. That’s why we order sushi to bed and book flights where you don’t have to change planes three times. But there is often strength and beauty in complexity. Both have now been impressively unleashed by Vacheron Constantin with Les Cabinotiers The Berkley Grand Complication. This timepiece is the most complicated watch in the world. 63 horological complications were combined in it, including the first Chinese perpetual calendar. The traditional Swiss company is thus equalizing its own best performance and setting a new standard after eleven years of development. But before the marvel ends up on a Christmas wish list: The only model is in the pocket of its financier, US billionaire W.R. Berkley.

Two legends have made their comeback in recent weeks. Tiger Woods is hitting golf balls again for the Masters Tournament after an injury break and Rolex presented two new models of its GMT Master II at the Watches and Wonders in Geneva. Rolex fan Woods and Woods fan Rolex therefore have good reason to continue their long-standing partnership on the green for years to come.

Secret Garden
Eden O’Clock
There are things in life that should only be contemplated while sitting on a chaise longue. One whose cushions are filled with old tears. The record player croaks out French chansons and we sigh away all our world-weariness as the Apparition des Baies machine begins to turn and reveal its sweet secret: A bird adorned with diamonds and sapphires appears from beneath the rose gold leaves. With its Extraordinary Objects, Van Cleef & Arpels combines jewelry craftsmanship and watchmaking that defies all sense of time.

What is on the dark side of the moon? More craters? Gardens in bloom? A Starbucks? If you want to uncover the secret with your own eyes, you have to submit your application to NASA. Just like the crew of Apollo 8, who were the first humans to orbit the moon in 1968. On the groundbreaking mission, each of the three men wore an Omega Speedmaster. The watch manufacturer is honoring the event with an update of its “Dark Side of the Moon” model. The lunar landscape is depicted in fantastic detail on the dial. And what’s hidden on the back? The answer to this riddle is included with every purchase.

The Hermès “Cut” made its debut in an art installation by Erin O’Keefe at the Geneva Watches and Wonders fair. The New Yorker is known for its colorful and undulating architecture, playful yet elegant. This also describes this model perfectly. Available in several variations, the timepiece can be further individualized with coloured, velvety-soft straps.

Stop! Hammer Time
Anyone who thought Gucci’s contribution to the watch industry would be a few pretty bracelets and dials was always mistaken. In recent years in particular, the Italian brand has not spilled the beans when it comes to the technical development of its timepieces. Or rather: knocked. Gucci has added a minute repeater to its new 25H. Only the most skilled Rhaelians dare to use this technique. Tiny hammers generate individual tones for hour, quarter-hour and minute strikes. And what sounds good looks even better at Gucci.

For its Couture O’Clock watch collection, Chanel doesn’t just talk out of the sewing box, but refines it itself in a series of original designs. Measuring tapes, pincushions and the legendary bag tags suddenly start ticking and take a bow to the creative minds that transform fabrics and leather into magic on Rue Cambon in Paris.

Beyond Physics
A short crash course in advanced watchmaking technology: a tourbillon compensates for gravity-related irregularities in the mechanics and thus ensures even greater precision. Sounds complicated? It is. It is all the more impressive that Piaget has succeeded in capturing this technology in a watch that is just 2 millimeters thick and 41.5 millimeters in circumference. A worthy gift that the manufactory made for its 150th anniversary. anniversary.

The water resistance of this watch is certainly double and triple checked. After all, it is the official model of the Italian sailing team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. It is currently preparing for the America’s Cup in August and will hopefully have a strong wind behind it as well as its sponsor Panerai. Visually inspired by the team colors, it ticks in the case just as precisely as the crew on board the regatta.

Tourbillon de force
We had to blow the dust off our physics textbooks to really understand and admire what Jaeger-LeCoultre has accomplished with this model. The already hyper-precise tourbillon function has been refined and is now even more accurate thanks to a three-axis gyroscope drive. To give its pioneering technology a face, Jaeger-LeCoultre opted for a noble dial inspired by its pocket watches from the 19th century. Century is inspired.

When the mountain calls, the best way to answer is with an Alpine Eagle on your arm. The unwavering craftsmanship makes Chopard’s flagship model a reliable companion, no matter how many meters above or below the sea it has to function. Even in the new Rhône-blue design, the Alpine Eagle exceeds our expectations and takes care of nature: part of the proceeds will be donated to the Alpine Eagle Foundation.

Literature lesson
Around the world in 80 days? Children’s game. Around the world in 80 days without WiFi or a data package? A suicide mission! This limited edition of the Star Legacy Orbis Terrarum from Montblanc is peppered with references to Jules Verne’s literary classic from 1872, when a trip around the world was still a romantic, breakneck adventure and not a bookmark on Airbnb.

Among the sports watches, the Aquanaut from Patek Philippe is the gold medal winner. With its robust yet elegant design, it indicates when it’s time to move from the tennis court to the bar. Now, for the first time, the model is available in a white gold version that complements our Wimbledon-in-training outfit even better.

Vivienne in the Sky with Diamonds is not a catchy tune, but a peacock for the wrist. Louis Vuitton sends its mascot into space and surrounds it with a brilliant blaze of color. A comet turns its rounds as a minute hand and completes the playful design under which La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton lets its best technology tick.

Bulgari’s new world record is something to be proud of – but only almost. With a thickness of 1.70 millimeters, the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC is the thinnest mechanical watch ever made. For those of you whose stomach is growling like ours: it’s thinner than spaghetti. Among other things, the sapphire crystal was optimized for this technical masterpiece and the case back was used as the movement plate. A mass of engineering power for a touch of clock.

The Beagle has landed
The phrase “Houston, we have a problem” made history. It is also thanks to Omega that this problem did not turn into a disaster. Their “Speedmaster Professional” watches contributed significantly to the safe landing of the Apollo 13 mission. For this, the company was honored with the Silver Snoopy, the highest award given by NASA astronauts. In its collaboration with Swatch, Omega passes on the cartoon beagle and lets it look at the stars on the new Bioceramic MoonSwatch. Problems? No more.

Light spectacle
Kunihiko Morinaga is an alchemist with a sewing needle. The designer conjures up garments that change color depending on the incidence of light thanks to photochromic processing. Stars like Beyoncé have already made a big entrance with them. For his collaboration with Rado, the Japanese company is also reaching into its bag of tricks. Depending on the position of the sun, the color of the dial changes – until it appears to dissolve completely, revealing the movement. Magic? No, Morinaga.

Just Relax
We can finally put our three semesters of color psychology to good use. There, turquoise stands for clarity, calm and serenity. Three things we would like to feel more often when we look at the clock. No problem with the new 1911 model. Missed the bus by ten seconds? Deep Turquoise. Food already burnt after three minutes? Deep Turquoise. Three more hours of open mic slam poetry, with our BFF performing? Deep Turquoise – and everything will be fine.
