Anyone who wants to feel like a superstar walks around the world in adidas Originals Superstar sneakers. And those who have long since been celebrated as stars also make use of the iconic brand with the three stripes. The current campaign brings together a new generation of pop culture-influenced superstars – with Superstar sneakers on their feet, of course.
A barefoot Samuel L. Jackson is looking for his superstars. On the one hand, of course, the footwear, but on the other, those young people who are shaping a new generation. We don’t know whether the actor is also looking for his footwear in real life, but in the new adidas campaign he plays the seeker perfectly.
Anyone who wanders through pop culture will recognize every face in the campaign: model Kendall Jenner, NBA superstar James Harden, music innovator Baby Keem, K-pop star Jennie, skateboarding legend Tyshawn Jones, pop sensation Olivia Dean and soccer prodigy Lamine Yamal. Attentive eyes will also spot the latter two in our current FACES March issue.
The cinematic campaign was directed by Thibaut Grevet, whose visionary style has already transformed many sporting scenarios into true works of art.
Timeless & iconic
“Superstars never disappear – they are timeless and iconic. In this campaign, we also show the relevance of this sneaker in music, fashion, sports and art – it pushes the boundaries of reality with unexpected twists,” says Annie Barrett, Vice President Marketing, adidas Originals.
The campaign also teaches us that a superstar not only wears sneakers, but also wraps himself in adidas from head to toe. For the coming season, for example, this means loose-cut tracksuits with strong color blocking in red, black and white for menswear. And denim – adidas is now increasingly relying on this material.
The key piece in womenswear is the superstar track top – worn by Kendall Jenner in a red equipment blocking jacket. Other versions in textured faux leather and crochet combine sport and street fashion. We’re following in the footsteps of the many superstars and picking up a pair or two.
