Shortcuts Fashion November 2020

“Fashion is merely an opinion. And I’ve got a lot of opinions.” Kanye West

Providing a future

Doing good must be a matter of course. And as such, Margherita Missoni has been supporting the non-profit organization OAfrica for 16 years. OAfrica helps children and their families in Ghana whose lives are marked by violence, abuse, child trafficking, HIV and AIDS or discrimination. To draw attention to the problems and at the same time strengthen Ghanaian craftsmanship, M Missoni is launching a collection of woven straw bags together with OAfrica, handmade in Bolgatanga and finished in Italy. Part of the proceeds go directly to OAfrica, where every cent is invested in the well-being of children in Ghana.

Rooooooaarrr

Sometimes life is like a zoo. And sometimes we behave like lions, zebras or giraffes ourselves. This fall, we are doing this all the more when we
in prints from the animal kingdom, preferably from head to toe or at least so clearly that our mere presence resembles a loud roar. Wallowing
Dresses, loose blouses, woollen coats, handle bags and boots now come in printed versions – and yes, we mean printed, because we don’t come across any real exotics.
in the closet.

Falling

We invest. In pieces that will last forever, that will never go out of fashion, that will outlast fall and winter and still be stylish in spring. One such piece is the leather blazer from Akris (approx. 4‘190.-) that goes with a dress, a turtleneck sweater, a light blouse or a knitted top. Elegant and cool, edgy and modern, we simply love it.

Boots carry us through the seasons, from fall to winter, through leaves and snow and everything else that comes our way between seasonal changes. Particularly fashionable now: riding boots with a color-accentuated shaft that make us dream of the paddock, of a ride on Black Beauty, for our sake also of the prince on the white horse or of life on the farm, where life somehow still seems so wonderfully in order. No horse at hand? Never mind, we’ll strut down the streets in these boots with all the more self-confidence and hold our heads at least as proudly as the most spirited warmblood.

Made for walking

The sexy swing of the hips, the long legs. Yes, that attracts attention. But it really sucks that the high heels cause deformed feet and aching bunions. Is that really necessary? Not really, if the Maison Baum label has its way. It has worked harder than Daniel Gyro Gearloose and developed a shoe that not only provides optimum protection and support for the foot, but also cushions every step as if we were literally walking on clouds. Four years, 25 generations of prototypes, over 1,600 hours of testing – but now it’s here, the high heel that feels like a slipper. One of the secrets is the footbed, which distributes the body weight evenly over the entire shoe, thus reducing the pressure on the forefoot by around half and enabling a more relaxed gait and less back pain. Behind Maison Baum is shoe engineer Christof Baum, who, together with his father, an orthopaedic surgeon, had no less ambition than to create the perfect high heel. The heels, which are available in three designs and several colors, are produced in a family-run manufactory in Portugal. Maison Baum, high heels in smooth leather and suede from approx. 285.- (www.maisonbaum.com)

The game for power

There is a war between the stars and dark forces threaten existence. Somewhere Darth Vader is panting while the Jedi make plans. Star Wars is cult and the story is a perennial favorite. It’s time to show off our love for Chewbacca, R2-D2 and co. with the new collection from Pandora, which will make us forget all about the rainy weather. The collection includes eleven charms with our favorite characters and a bracelet, which is also made from 71% recycled materials. So, depending on our mood, we put the dark Sith Lord next to the lovable Joda, even if this would never happen in the films. Pandora, Star Wars collection, charms from approx. 49.-
