Shortcuts Fashion April 2019

“Fashion Week is like Christmas.” Brad Goreski

Sunshine reggae

It turns the musician into a rock star and the nobody into a VIP. The sunglasses change the wearer’s appearance, making it clear that they want to see everything, but only reveal themselves to those closest to them . As soon as the sun shines, we all become stars – and with the new glasses from Thomas Sabo anyway. Skulls and ornate crosses flash on their temples as we ponder whether we have chosen the right model today. Round lenses with a bridge, black aviator shape or perhaps the classic with a horn? Fortunately, despite (or perhaps because of) climate change, the sun shines often enough to take every model for a walk . Thomas Sabo, sunglasses, approx. 169 to 335, available from May 2019 in selected Thomas Sabo stores, shop-in-shops and at www.thomassabo.com.

Courage and fashion go hand in hand. If you don’t have the former, you can leave it at that. So it should be no problem for you to imitate what labels such as Giorgio Armani or N°21 are sending out onto the catwalk: sleek, shiny dresses, coats, pumps and bags, the look of which takes the air out of well-behaved religious students. Especially when mixed with linen, cotton or knitwear, the vinyl pieces show their full potential.

Funny Granny

While others her age wear gray polyester pants, Iris Apfel is a fashionable bird of paradise. She has 97 years under her belt and at least as many ideas for new outfits in her head. Apfel doesn’t want to talk about age – after all, there are more important things to talk about. For example, jewelry, furniture or textiles, which the former interior designer not only collects like a desperate single phone number, but also designs herself. When she’s not drawing, Iris is writing apples. In her book with the cheesy title “Style is not a question of age”, she dispenses more advice on every page than Oprah Goodies on TV. We take at least a few of these to heart, because being in this mood at 97 can hardly be down to New York drinking water alone. Iris Apfel, “Style is not a question of age”, Midas Collection, approx. 33.-

More, faster, newer, now and immediately. Fashion turns us into zombies. It’s good to think about things again for a week. The Fashion Revolution Week takes place from 23. until 26. April 2019 to take a reflective look at your own closet. Do we buy just for the sake of buying, do we store to have to or because we walk on bare soles without the new pair of boots? There are numerous workshops, discussions and events on this topic throughout Switzerland. At Zurich’s Schiffbau , various designers will spend four days creatively upcycling old clothes – if you want to call carelessly discarded sweaters and shirts that at all. Come along, join in, be amazed and, above all, learn to love used things again. Fashion Revolution Week, 23. until 26. April 2019, NO SWEATSHOP in the foyer of the Zurich Schiffbau, including a repair café, flick workshop and the panel discussion “Utopia and Change” on April 25. April,

Wet

Yuck. Everything is gray and wet – and yet we had been looking forward to spring so much. So that we don’t have to bury our painstakingly styled outfit under the old winter coat again, we opt for a rain jacket in bad weather. This season it’s made of plastic and allows you to see what mustn’t get wet. Unfortunately, it can get a bit hot under the air-sealed trench. But yes, we accept that.
