Roger Dubuis X Lamborghini with Excalibur Spider Huracán MB

Where better to launch a watch from the collaboration between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini than at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022? FACES was there when Roger Dubuis presented its Excalibur Spider Huracán MB to the world and got all the information about the new timepiece from Roger Dubuis International Marketing & Communication Director Sadry Keiser.

Roger Dubuis

FACES: What exactly does “Hyper Horology” mean?
Sadry Keiser: Hyper Horology is the interface between traditional haute horlogerie, expressiveness (Roger Dubuis is all about the skeleton) and contemporary (straight lines, flat surfaces…). When these three factors are combined, Hyper Horology is created.

F: How did the collaboration between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini come about?
SK: The Roger Dubuis brand is curious and always on the lookout for like-minded people who share the same values. We had the opportunity to meet the Lamborghini team a few times before the actual collaboration. It was immediately clear that we live the same values and share the same horizon. This is the basic prerequisite for authentic and good cooperation.

F: Why is the collaboration with Lamborghini such a good fit?
SK: Because we were facing the same challenges as Lamborghini at the time. We were part of a large group that offers very innovative and exclusive products for a select clientele, and we had set ourselves the goal of maintaining our roots and our DNA. The collaboration with Lamborghini was like a firework display of creativity and innovation.

F: The Excalibur Spider Huracán MB in one word?
SK: Adrenaline.

F: What do you like best about the new timepiece?
SK: The unique expressiveness without compromising on technology. The Excalibur Spider Huracán has a unique and powerful look, but if you look closely, it is also packed with our expertise, starting with the 12 degree angled, balanced wheel.

F: Roger Dubuis is said to be the bad boy of the watch industry. Where does this way of thinking come from?
SK: I would rather say that Roger Dubuis is the troublemaker or the terrible child. Roger Dubuis has great respect for the traditions of watchmaking. Our aim is to enchant our customers with a modern and contemporary approach, without compromising on aesthetics and innovation. The best proof of this is that we are one of the few manufacturers in the world to hold the Poiçon de Genève certificate, one of the most demanding certifications in watchmaking.

F: Is there a typical customer or the typical Roger Dubuis customer?
SK: No, our customers are very diverse. They all share the same way of thinking and their search for uniqueness, which reflects their unconventional and insatiable spirit. They look for everything that is disruptive and daring and want to grow beyond themselves and life

F: Apart from the presentation of the Excalibur Spider Huracán, what was your personal highlight at the Goodwood Festival?
SK: As you know, it was our first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and we had the opportunity to enter a world full of passionate people. Another shared value that encourages us to go even further. See you next year!
