Piaget’s history is as dazzling as its jewelry. On the 150th anniversary To mark its 50th anniversary, the luxury manufacturer is presenting a new collection that reinterprets classic pieces.
The 19-year-old Georges-Édouard Piaget once set up a small workshop on his parents’ farm to tinker with high-precision movements. 100 years later, his family name was emblazoned on pieces of jewelry that adorned the skin of Hollywood stars and American first ladies.
From the village of La Côte-aux-Fées in western Switzerland to the spotlight of world history, Piaget’s creations have enjoyed a fairytale rise, accompanied by such iconic wearers as Jacqueline Kennedy and Sophia Loren. Even Salvador Dali created some of the company’s legendary designs with gold coins he minted himself.
With President Yves C. Piaget, the fourth generation of the family now oversees the legacy. It contains not only ultra-thin watches whose technical sophistication never ceases to amaze experts, but also timeless jewelry classics. On the 150th anniversary On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, they were reinterpreted by artistic director Stéphanie Sivrière and her team.
96 models – earrings, bracelets, necklaces and many more – are the result of this masterly test of extravagance. For his bijoux, Piaget has always been committed to a blaze of color that makes even an exotic spring garden pale in comparison. In the current collection, glowing carnelian, dreamy aquamarine and pink sapphire provide unmissable accents.
We don’t know whether a birthday cake with 150 candles is actually being carried through Piaget’s headquarters these days. But even this will not shine as brightly as the brilliant pieces that the Maison is giving us for the anniversary. Merci beaucoup!
