Performance redefined: Richard Mille RM 43-01 Ferrari

Performance redefined: Richard Mille RM 43-01 Ferrari

There are timepieces and there are revelations. The latest Richard Mille watch unveiled at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris on March 20 – the RM 43-01 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Ferrari – is less a watch than an ode to engineering, fueled by Ferrari’s fire and Richard Mille’s vision. It is the second joint creation since the two titans joined forces in 2021. The latest model doesn’t just whisper speed and precision – it roars them like a Ferrari engine, deep and determined, from within.

Mechanical aesthetics, uncompromisingly conceived

Even at first glance, it is clear that the RM 43-01 is a visual statement. A skeletonized movement that combines the tension of architectural lines with the precision of the finest watchmaking art. Its silhouette evokes the muscular curves of a Ferrari SF90 Stradale and its edges are reminiscent of the clean lines of the Daytona SP3. But this timepiece doesn’t want to please – it wants to be understood. Every detail, from the laser-engraved plaque to the shape of the screws, serves a technical purpose. Beauty here is a by-product of function.

Titan: The Gentleman Driver

Limited to 150 pieces, the RM 43-01 is available in two versions. The first edition, limited to 75 pieces, comes in micro-blasted and polished grade 5 titanium, complemented by a caseband made of Carbon TPT®. It is aimed at the gentleman driver – restrained, controlled, technically adept. A watch for those who value substance over show, understatement over volume.

Carbon TPT®: The purist of performance

The second version is made entirely of Carbon TPT® – an exclusive material from Richard Mille, known for its extreme lightness and structural strength. This version is also limited to 75 pieces. It is the technical statement for purists. Every gram counts, every line is defined by speed. It is a watch that does not accompany – but leads the way.

The caliber as an engine block

At the heart of both models is the newly developed RM43-01 caliber – a hand-wound movement created in collaboration with Audemars Piguet Le Locle. It combines two of the most sophisticated complications: Tourbillon and split-seconds chronograph. With a power reserve of 70 hours, a torque indicator, a function selector and an innovative active seconds display, the construction is more reminiscent of a racing engine than a classic movement.

Form, function, Ferrari

The design goes far beyond aesthetics: the dial is three-dimensional, with a floating 30-minute totalizer, X-shaped bridges, golden screws and satin-finished surfaces – all inspired by the engine blocks of the Ferrari 499P hypercars. The crown is reminiscent of a wheel nut, while the strap quotes the stitching patterns of the Ferrari Purosangue. Ferrari’s Centro Stile was significantly involved in the design – not as a consultant, but as a partner.

“At Ferrari, we believe that every technical element can also be beautiful. Functional beauty – that is what drives us. This idea lives on in the RM 43-01. Not loud, not bold – but profound and precise.” – Flavio Manzoni, Chief Design Officer, Ferrari

Time for insiders

The RM 43-01 is not a timepiece for showcases. Its complexity is aimed at collectors who know what they are looking at. The watch does not speak of ownership, but of selection – of a place in a silent circle of connoisseurs. For them, watchmaking is not consumption, but a dialog. One that only opens up to those who can engage in it.

A sign without words

This model is not an accessory – it is a silent commitment. For people who don’t buy to show, but to preserve. You don’t wear the RM 43-01 to say something. But to know that you belong.

Collector’s footnote

You don’t collect to own. You collect to understand – the skill, the striving, the why behind every detail. The RM 43-01 is not an accessory. It is an expression of mechanical intelligence and quiet superiority. It does not belong to just anyone. It recognizes the right person. The one who doesn’t measure time, but masters it.

The world of Richard Mille is not only characterized by technical excellence, but also by an extraordinary family of brand ambassadors who embody the brand’s ethos: performance, precision and visionary passion. Among the most famous names are tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who even wears the ultra-light RM 27 models during his matches, and Charles Leclerc, Formula 1 driver at Ferrari, whose partnership with Richard Mille is deeply interwoven with his career. Golf stars such as Bubba Watson and Nelly Korda, sprint legend Yohan Blake and polo champion Pablo Mac Donough are also part of the Richard Mille family. In the field of art and culture, musician and designer Pharrell Williams stands for creative innovation with his futuristically inspired RM 52-05, as does choreographer Benjamin Millepied for movement and aesthetics. All ambassadors – whether on the race track, the tennis court, at the opera or on the mountain – test the timepieces under extreme conditions and contribute to the fact that Richard Mille is not just a watch, but an attitude.
