Louis Vuitton: Artycapucines Chapter 5

Louis Vuitton Artycapucines

When the bag becomes a canvas: Louis Vuitton launches the Artycapucines 2023 collection. This is the fifth time that selected artists have given the Capucines a creative touch.

Others hang art on the wall, we hang it around our shoulders. The new Artycapucines collection from Louis Vuitton makes it possible. Capucines is named after the fashion label’s first store, which opened over 160 years ago on Rue Neuve-des-Capucines in Paris. This is the fifth time that Louis Vuitton has invited famous contemporary artists to give the iconic bag a literal makeover. The Capucines, which has a total of 250 work steps, is actually an art object in itself. But Louis Vuitton has gone one better with this collaboration, bringing bags into our wardrobes whose creators are otherwise regulars at MoMa and the like. This year it’s Billie Zangewa, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Liza Lou, Tursic & Mille and Ziping Wang who are spicing up the Capucines with their art. Five models await us, each of which will be produced in an edition of 200. This turns the bag into a canvas and the closet into a museum.

The Artycapucines by Ewa Juszkiewicz is based on her painting “Ginger Locks”.
