Music producer, self-taught musician, chart-topper and Hublot ambassador since 2018. This year sees the launch of the company’s first own watch model: the Big Bang DJ Snake. A watch as multifaceted as the artist himself, which causes a stir on and off stage with its iridescent look.
The music business is a tough place. DJ Snake fought his way to the top of the podium with songs like “Turn Down For What”, “Let me love you” with Justin Bieber and “Selfish Love” with Selena Gomez. When the likes of Kanye West or Lil Jon aren’t knocking on his door, the Frenchman devotes himself to his second passion, design. Together with the Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot, he is now presenting the watch named after him, the Big Bang DJ Snake. The icon from the house of Hublot is cool as usual and at the same time has a new look: the titanium bezel and case shimmer like the scales of a snake. The secret of this effect is hidden in the process used, which is technically similar to a black PVD coating. In fact, the desired color impression is achieved through color charges and the precise alignment of the components in a specific position. The result: a spectacular iridescence, with the color varying depending on the angle and lighting. DJ Snake was not only the inspiration for the choice of color, however, but also lent a hand with the bezel itself, as the notches on it were penned by him. The Frenchman also chose a world map for the dial, symbolizing his numerous travels and his hits. This also reveals the UNICO caliber HUB1242 movement, a flyback chronograph with a power reserve of 72 hours. All these special features make the Big Bang DJ Snake a very special collector’s item. The availability of this special model of Hublot’s Big Bang is also a reason why fans of the French artist should be waiting in the wings: just 100 pieces of this particular model are available. So it pays to be quick.
DJ Snake
Behind the stage name DJ Snake is 35-year-old William Grigahcine. He spent his childhood as the junior of Algerian parents in the Parisian ghetto, where he attracted attention with his graffiti. Again and again, he just about escapes the police officers who do not tolerate the spray painting, and thus creates his later name: Snake. Then he gets his act together, finds music and works on his career. This led him via a collaboration with Lady Gaga for her album “Born This Way” and a contract with the Mad Decent label to the single “Turn Down For What”, for which he was in the spotlight for the first time. “Lean On” later became his most successful hit to date, selling over nine million songs.
