The Akris prêt-à-porter collections are known for combining fashion and art history, and the Akris Spring-Summer 2024 collection remains true to this tradition. Albert Kriemler, the creative director of Akris, was inspired by Felice (Lizzi) Rix-Ueno, a famous artist of the Wiener Werkstätte. Lizzi’s works are characterized by bright colors, curves and ornaments and embody the concept of fantasy – the use of imagination to achieve originality.

Inspiration in Lizzi’s artwork: creating a distinctive visual language

Felice (Lizzi) Rix-Ueno ‘s designs for poppy fabrics have significantly influenced the central theme of the Akris Spring-Summer 2024 collection. Kriemler has ingeniously incorporated her poppy design into various fashion pieces such as embroidered cocktail dresses and colorful pleated pants, showing a fresh approach to trouser fashion and statement blazers. An Easter bonbonnière, another work of art by Rix-Ueno, adorned a flowing white shirt dress. Watercolor paintings inspired by nature enriched other elements of the collection. In homage to nature, abstract watercolor and pencil drawings of birds brought a simply styled button-down and matching cargo pants to life.

Akris spring-summer collection 2024: the color palette

The collection’s color palette ranged from rich reds and deep, electric blues to neutral earth tones that blended seamlessly. The highlight was the eye-catching evening dresses with platinum-colored silk fringes that floated elegantly across the floor.

The Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna will organize an exhibition with the artist Felice (Lizzi) Rix-Ueno, entitled: Stars, Feathers, Tassels, which will be shown by the November 22, 2023 until 21. April 2024 (Akris is a sponsor).
