Coffee, tea or a latte? Why not a bubble tea! The trendy drink from Taiwan is currently booming in the city of Zurich. Stores are springing up like mushrooms. If you’re out and about in Zurich and like bubble tea or really want to try one, we’ll take you by the hand.
Pao Pao Modern Tea
The bubble tea store from Berlin has come to Zurich, more precisely to Kalkbreite in Wiedikon. As soon as you enter the store, you’re overcome by the desire to take a picture of the interior design. The pink lucky cat wall, the “Felt cute, might delete later” mirror and the drinks themselves are absolute eye-catchers for Insta-Shot. Furthermore, there is such a large selection of drinks that it’s best to come back again tomorrow. Vegan options with soy and oat milk are also available. With this interior, the bubble teas naturally have to keep up aesthetically – and they do indeed, and what’s more, they taste great too! The tapioca pearls impress with their consistency and sweetness and Pao Pao also impresses with its stamp cards: If you treat yourself to a bubble tea often, you get a tenth one for free after the ninth.

Khujug
Khujug is a ten-minute walk from the main station and close to Langstrasse. Actually a restaurant, it also offers bubble tea to go. The interior is beautiful and offers a good ambience. There is also a good selection of drinks, and the price-performance ratio will put a smile on the face of anyone who has ever paid six francs for a café crème in Zurich. Those with a bad tooth will be happy here, as the drinks tend to be on the sweeter side when it comes to sugar. If you like it a little less sweet, let me know. And there’s more: not only are Khujug’s bubble teas authentic and delicious, but their Chinese cuisine is also worth a visit.

Mì Té
Compared to other bubble tea stores, Mì Té has a smaller menu. This is particularly helpful for those who can’t make up their minds anyway when faced with too much choice. What’s on the menu here has most in common with the original from Asia; you’ll hardly find any offbeat creations here, but that doesn’t matter, as the store impresses with its cute interior and sense of sustainability. The company uses reusable glass containers with straws that customers can bring back again and again. Those who take part will benefit from a 10 percent discount on their drinks. Now that’s something!

Só Tea
Só Tea is located in the heart of Zurich. The small store is located directly at Froschaugasse 12 in Niederdorf and could easily be overlooked. Our favorite is the “The Grand Boba Taro” with tapioca pearls, brown sugar and the daily fresh homemade creamy taro. The tea masters also encourage their customers to keep the cups or bring their own next time – for the sake of the environment. If you stick to it, you pay one franc less. If you can’t make it to Zurich, keep your ears peeled: Só Tea will soon be opening its second branch in Rapperswil.

Juliette’s Bubble Tea
Juliette’s Bubble Tea can be found at the bar in her Singapore restaurant in Altstetten. They were the first to offer bubble teas in Zurich, long before Instagram was full of beautiful bubble tea pictures. The staff are very nice and courteous and are happy to put a little more tapioca pearls in the cup. Two different types of sugar are used here: liquid cane sugar and ground rock candy to give the taste more depth. If you fancy a bubble tea late in the evening, Juliette’s Bubble Tea is the place for you: Because they are open daily until 02:00.

Besteas Bar
Bestea’s bar is located right next to the Stauffacher. The interior is decorated with dried flowers from Eden Flower, which is located right next door. The floral decorations are complemented by bubble tea and soft toys – a real paradise for anyone who likes things cute and kitschy. Besteas offers a wide variety of drinks: Whether milky or fruity, there is something for everyone. You can also put together your own fruity drink. They also offer the option of soy milk for lactose intolerant people. Also great: the customer chooses the sugar level and ice content.
