Every genius starts out as a greenhorn. Thomas Hoepker, the luminary of Magnum Photos, also pressed the shutter button for the first time at some point. The German has traveled halfway around the world, without a corset, without pressure, but with a head full of fluff. The result is no less ingenious than what would later make Hoepker so big and can be seen in Berlin until mid-January.
Thomas Hoepker: All Around the World
From Rio de Janeiro to Hong Kong, New York, Naples and Paris: this is jet-setting at its finest. From 1959, Thomas Hoepker traveled the world and laid the foundations for his later career with his photographs, which would take him to the presidency of the Magnum Photos agency. At Buchkunst Berlin until 13. January 2024 to see those snapshots of the young Hoepker that were almost in danger of gathering dust in the archive.
